I don't like welding SS onto pot metal! I might as well build the whole thing then...

I have a good Plan B in mind.
But I'm struggling with Originality versus Custom Racing. I like that it looks more original with the stock unit but it kills me because the stock exhaust is sh!t IMO. I secured a SS DP, I guess I’m closer to a custom build at this point.

I need a loan to buy some Burns Stainless pipe!

You can still buy the tailpipe with the tips at Advance Auto Parts for about $75. They have to order it.

That doesn't really look like the original does it? At least from what I remember my 85 off hand.

I will have to check out the Advance Auto solution. Mine is solid but didn't clean as well as I wanted on the chrome side. Any idea on the part #? Can't find anything similar online. Thanks

Could not find it on line for Advanced (where I got mine) but auto zone part number is 350365.

Doesn't the orginal style have a tab/bracket going between the tips for the hanger?

                      '84 pipe from AutoZone

Ordered the pipe and found out the tips were steel. Look pretty retarded and refused it............

Found one thru Midas after a lot of trial and error only to decide to go to 3" exhaust all the way thru. I will list the nice one in the For Sale section soon.

Used a Flowmaster driver side 2 piece 3" tailpipe set. It fit perfectly and even the tail pipe hanger rod aligned with the original tail pipe rubber isolator.

I was recently lucky enough to purchase a correct 84' Walker dual chrome tailpipe.
I would love to be able to hang the tailpipe the original way.
The Walker tailpipe has the correct original bracket welded onto it (the one with the two holes).
The part of the hanger that mounts to the frame is long gone (dont we all wish we would have never thrown away parts??)
Where would I get this correct style hanger. If I recall correctly, it still has a rubber bushing on it. Was there a little bracket that bolted to those two holes on the tailpipe which gave it the ol' rod setup which you can then slide into a standard hanger with the rubber piece on it??

                        Thanks- Jim

Jim, where'd you find one and how much if you don't mind me asking? Mine has a couple of pinholes in it. They actually used it on the 2 1/2" exhaust and slipped it into the new over axle pipe. Looks decent just the holes show...

Its a Walker 45856. I got it through Rock Auto. It appeared they had one left!
Its the original 2 1/4" pipe, but I'm good with that. I have a straight 2 1/4" pipe back to the muffler to the original tailpipe. I like the stock appearance.
Now if only I can find an original hanger, I cant seem to get it stable enough to not rattle between the fuel tank and the lower quarter panel.
