  • Best sub $150 downpipe?

I have the money to start buying up my exhaust parts and I am looking at downpipes at the moment. The pipe will be mated to a 3" cat and a 3" MAC exhaust. I really don't want to spend 400 dollars however. I know that there is the strick 9 and the sac mustangs pipes out there for less than 150. I really don't know which to pick however. Any suggestions?

Also I noticed that they both offer a long and a short version of the pipes. Which would be the choice for me with the exhaust I have in mind?

    Thanks for the help.

    SVOandSVT,

I just installed the 3" turbo elbow(from bob40fordlee), strick9 downpipe (long one) and a 3" cat and Flowmaster 3" to 2- 2 1/2" y-pipe. Everything mated up great. The downpipe from strick9 is dead on, and for the price, I couldn't recommend another one over it. All the exhaust shop had to do was make a couple of little extension pipes to fit the existing 2 1/2" cat back system that i have.

I would highly recommend working with strick9 for your downpipe. You just tell him what you want, and he'll make it for you. I got mine with a slip-fit for the turbo elbow, and about 6" longer on the cat side. Like I said, worked out great!

I recently got the Sac Mustang downpipe for my '86. It fits well with no problems. The muffler shop cut my long pipe and welded in the 3" high flow cat. I had them weld a reducer pipe between the cat and the Y-pipe as I was not ready to replace the whole system and the Y-pipe flange was not usable. I keep the reducing end of the downpipe so that I can use it when I finish the rest of the system. With this piece it will be easy to bolt in a stock catback system.

      Just my 2 cents

Does anyone have experience with Stinger's parts? http://projecthp.ford23.com/stingerperformance.html $75 for a 3" downpipe. I'm waiting to hear if it really exists and the exhaust stuff fits an SVO. The kid lives in my town so I will pay him a visit if he sells good stuff.

Part number for the Flowmaster is : FLO-Y250300A

Summitt Racing has it for $37.95, and your exhaust shop should be able to bend and weld in the rest easily.
