Stock exhaust size

What size is the 86's stock dual tip exhaust system? Im trying to buy some muflers and need to know what size i need

Well its running ok i guess. It still has that problem though, about the timing not retarding, or restricted exhaust, or ignition wires bad. Im gonna change the coolant sensor riht now to see if that does anything since i got it for free. Ill keep you guys posted.

Sorry if this has already been covered elsewhere, but will the stock 2.25" duals be a restriction if everything in front of the "Y" is 3"? Is there a formula to calculate how much much more/less flow you will get from duals of diameter "a" compared to a single system of diameter "b"?

Although any formula will become useless when trying to compare mufflers, restriction on single vs. dual can be estimated by area.

Single Exhaust: Pi*R Squared.
Dual Exhaust: Pi*R Squared * 2.

This does not take into account the bends in the system. As the hot exhaust works it's way back through the system, it will lose about 120-150 degrees per foot of length, which after a while obviates the need for a 3 inch dual exhaust system after the Y-pipe.

I kept stock size duals & in/outs on my Hooker Aerochamber muffs/ Sound GOOD and no 'drone'......
