Which 3" exhaust is best...

i have the full 3'' on my 84 svo. 3'' dp from SAC Mustang and a 3'' cat from the muffler shop and the 3'' Mac drivers side only and it is a real nice setup, it was a big difference over stock like night and day! i like the Mac setup.

Yea, but do you have Rods 3" turbo elbow?
This piece is the final touch. I noticed a big difference in spool up time. My car can launch with instant boost now. Definately worth the money id you've gone 3" the rest of the way back.

No problem. welcome aboard. Try to make it to the SVO reunion in October in Kentucky. You'll see all sorts of neat stuff. Rod actually showed up there last year and even had an example of his product that was given away at the Sunday festivities.

I cut the reducer flange of of my downpipe and welded it to the elbow. Just bolt the elbow to the turbo, cut the flange and the reduced section offf the downpipe, and test-fit it. Keep trimming more off the downpipe until it sits at the level you want it. I tack welded it while on the car, and then removed it to finish weld it.
Works great.

how about: would the center mount be better than the stock location header? not taking into account the extra work needed for egr and front mount ic and stuff. and also is rod's header holding up better than the atr stuff?

the rods headers have the ranger headers with the turbo towards the front...would this work for the svo?

I have the Sac Mustang DP, 3" Catco cat and MAC 3" flowpath too. Excellent combo.

My question is if anyone running a 3" turbine elbow welded to the downpipe has had cracking issues at the elbow or in the header. The engine flexes a lot on the motor mounts, shouldn't a coupling with more 'give' be used?

Muffler ???

I've read all the post and it seems that as far as mufflers go it's either Magnaflow or Flowmaster are the preffered muffler. My question is which one is going to let me still be able to hear myself think inside the car the best without losing power. I plan on making my own exhaust and I want a throaty sound but not what you hear coming from some of the ricers out there.
Going to put in 3" w/o a cat and take it all the way out the back.
Where would be the best (cheapest) place to get the muffler?

This spring, the Flowmaster developed a hole after 130,000 miles. I replaced it with the Magnaflow. Same performance, but now it is quiet. It doesn't make much more noise than the stock exhaust! It is much more quiet than the MAC setup discussed above.

How is that setup still working for you? Do you have a part#. I have an 84 So what would be th e best size 4x9, 5x8, or 5x11? I know the 84's came single in single out, but can you go double out?

Todd, go with the Magnaflow. I HAD a Flowmaster on my 84 with 3" cat and exhaust. It was noisy! The Magnaflow I have NOW makes just as much power (love that added boost down low) and is as quiet as the stock muffler.

Also, from an efficiency standpoint, a chambered muffler such as the Flowmaster does not work as well with a turbo as the straight through design of the Magnaflow.

I had an ATR 3'' dp w/o cat and dual Flowmasters on my 85.5 and it deff. gives the car a nasty rumble and v8 sound. The turbo is also a bit louder as well. While attending Hot Rod U at UTI, we flow tested a bunch of mufflers and the Magnaflows always out did the Flowmasters. So from a performance standpoint, the Magnaflows are a little better but you will notice a great improvement either way.
