  • Lower Bodyside Protection

I have seen some very limited mention here of the lower bodyside protection offered on early 84 SVO's. When I bought mine the owner stated they came this way from the factory. The 1984 brochure lists this as a standard feature, it is not included in the optional feature list. I have the original window sticker and this is not listed as a standard feature (although they don't list everything) nor is it in the list of options. This treated area has faded to almost a flat black or maybe was painted to cover rock chips?? Anyway what do you think, has anyone run across this I have a black 1984 built in October 1983 so it is fairly early. When I go to repaint would you shoot it gloss and leave it there or blast it off down to bare metal and go from there. If it is correct I would like to save it if possible. Thanks!

      That's what I'm talkin about

How common was this rough lower bodyside protection or is it something that never existed does anyone have one of these who can shed some light on the subject?

          I see

My car was delivered to Janesville, WI so obviously not exported to Canada so would you say there is no chance this could be original??

Check the tag at the rad support. there is the build tag and if it came from the factory there will be a second tag that has just the words
            "road abrasion" on it
