I searched and searched but I cannot find any information on the differences between the blue ovals on the hatch. All I know is that they are different from 79-87 and 88-93. The issue for me is that the stock hatch on my car was rotten too badly to save so the painter found a good donor hatch for it, however it is off of a 1988 Mustang GT. My stock hatch did not have the oval on it in the first place so I can't compare them. However I ordered fresh ovals for my hood and for the 88 hatch (thinking the difference was that they are mounted differently with those pin things) and I noticed that they are different colors. Is this the only difference? Does anyone know?

Stick with the later..Welding process was different in the later years? Didnt rust as much. Same with the later doors...Hatch wiring is slightly different/u'll figure it out. Hatch mechanism slightly newer/different...get the newer receiver pin too.1 Modded, 1 Not

the FORD blue-ovals for the hatch, are just stickers... don't matter if you use the 88 one , or the 86 one...
I'll also be the first to tell you, if the blue oval on the front of the car, and the one on the rear of the car are slightly mismatched in color, NO ONE will notice
... you can't look at the hatch and the hood at the same time!

Fair enough, When they are next to each other it's incredibly obvious. Kind of like baby blue vs navy blue. But that's very true, no one will notice. I guess I'm just getting a bit ancy and picky with it since it's been getting painted since February haha.

If you're really anal about it, order the 86 one too.
it's only like $14.. Last time I ordered one with a members discount
Then it theoretically should match the front one (I wouldn't make any guarantees tho
) Wouldn't surprise me a lot if the exact same emblem showed up at your door.
