I have several that have broken off. I searched here and other forums and found a lot of info on how to remove the trim and where to buy the clips but nothing on how to replace the pins that hold the trim clips in place. I have tried to wrap my MIG wire around a pin (I fabbed from a finish nail) and weld it that way but the wire melts before the pin gets welded. (as I suspected but had to try). I do have another idea but would like to hear from others who have made the repair the correct way. Thanks in advance.

Don't know of a repair for the pins. You may have to use some kind of gentle silicone adhesive at those spots when you reinstall the trim, that way you'd theroetically be able to remove the trim at a later time if need be. Or just see how it sits at those spots when you reinstall it. Maybe you'll luck out and won't need those couple... Clips should be available at your local body supply. Just take an old one with you.-Eric

I have asked several people including a young guy that installed windshields and get similar answers from them; don't worry if one is missing just put it on and you will be fine. Then I ask them, what if you have several missing? I didn't get much of answer back from anyone.

Use a small sheetmetal screw in the same spot. If the head is too large just grind it down a little smaller. If the trim has any kind of warpage where that pin is missing, the clip attached to the pin will be the only way to hold it on there straight.

I believe I used rivets to hold on the clips on our 'glass hatch. I don't know how it will work, yet, as I haven't gotten the glass and trim reinstalled yet, but that's how I've done is so far.

Well, I chose to use the screw method. I found some #4 x 1/2" slotted panhead machine screws at Home Depot. The screw head is very close in size to the stud head. I test fit one and then another and liked it alot. I plan on removing them and applying some two part epoxy to the threads and then re-install them for good. I'm in the process of stripping the whole car down to bare metal and spraying it with 2K high build primer. It's a two part epoxy primer, amazing stuff! I do plan on coating the screws with the same.
