  • A pillar

Ok no one answered this totally before so here goes. Will a 87 A pillar gauge pod fit the 86 SVO? I know we can buy the bolt on that fits over the existing apillar but I am looking to do the one peice design.

If anyone had mounted gauges in other locations other than the a pillar I am looking for sugestions.

The a-pillar moulding is different in 87 because of the dash change, the top end is the same.

If you can't find one that you need for an '86 you might consider getting one for an '87, graft on the proper bottom from a JY donor (non SVO specific 79-86), and take some SVO color interior dye to it.

I noticed that Jim Whelan has one for an '87 listed in his garage sale section.

I noticed these links when poking around:

I got one of the bolt on ones and graphied it on to a spare 86 style Apiller trim piece. I attatched the pod with jb weld and hoged out the trim panel with a drimmel so the wireing is all unseen. I then dyed my new one piece gauge pod with dye from SVP Unlimited.

I wish Autometer made a full pillar for the '79-'86 cars. I'm sure if you found a good shop that makes custom vinyl dash pieces (usually for the rice burner guys), they would be able to modify the '87-'93 gauge pillar to the '79-'86. Also you might want to check out this site:
