  • How to check what color paint and bi-wing delete

Probably been looking for 5+ years for one. Been on the site for quite a few years, heck I even started bidding on low mileage SVO's recently. I almost gave up, till this one fell into my lap. Its an '86 and needs some paint work, some "go faster" parts and front drivers fender fixed or replaced. I already have a fender, but there is lots more to do. It runs good. Only mods are TC Intercooler and CAI. Overall I am pretty excited. I put it in the Registry first night I got it..FYI . Title says its Grey in exterior color, but obviously, its black. Its a clean title car with no accident history according to autocheck, but it's had 7 previous owners so I am thinking maybe the color somehow got changed accidently on title...also, any way to confirm if its a true bi-wing delete car?

easiest way is to check the door near the striker and see what the paint code is, but that only works if they made it easy for you.

saleenster - what's the VIN? I dont mind looking up the color for you. Become a Member and besides all the sponsoring Vendor discounts, you can access the VIN Production Data we have gathered. As for the bi-wing delete part, there is a company that can provide that info - but it's kind of pricey (IMO) to know just the one thing. If you like the single wing, then keep it on there. I, personally, prefer the dual wing because it's an instant recognizable characteristic of our cars.

The color code is on the buck tag...if it's there. Look on the radiator support, just to the driver's side of centerline.

There is another way to tell a if it is a single wing or dual by the buck tag. 12 is dual wing and 11 is single.

Got an example? ie: which line on the buck would it be located cause there's a wee bit more information on a buck tag other than a 12 or 11.

Pick is the buck tag from my bi-wing 1B. (yellow arrow is pointing to paint code....look at next line next to "AC" for "12")

Link is from a BWD car. Notice the "11" in the same slot.

Thanks Kurt. Exactly what I was hoping for. It helps people who have never seen a Buck Tag to know where to look and where the info is located.

BTW - I'm changing the title (for SEARCH reasons) and moving this thread to the TECH section (for obvious reasons/and it wont purge).

I am also a fan of the bi-wing, but if the car came as a delete option, then I would like to keep it in the fashion. I am kinda a puriest.

tks for all the nice comments guys
