  • Window Belt Mouldings??

I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS WHAT THESE ARE CALLED OR NOT, BUT THEY ARE THE FELT PEICES THAT GO BETWEEN THE DOOR AND WINDOW OF THE CAR. WHERE CAN I GET THESE?
    THANKS
    GARY

    Gary,
I know 50resto.com has them, but they seem awfully expensive (at least the outer ones are). I need some too and am delaying purchase till I have to have them. Seems like I found them somewhere else for about 2/3 that price but I can't remember where. Guess I'll have to start looking again. I really don't understand why the 79-86 outer belt weatherstrip is sooo expensive ($104.95 EACH!!). It can't be that much different than the later model which is less than 1/3 the cost. You can get the pair for 87-93 for about half the cost of one for 79-86. On their site go to Products, then Door, then Weatherstrip, you'll see it. Me, I'm still looking. Don't get me wrong, I love Latemodel Restoration supply. I bought carpet and a dash cover there just a couple weeks ago, but some of there stuff is priced pretty dear! I'll post again if I find that other source I seem to remember.

That must be some kind of mistake on the 50resto web site, a magazine add I just looked at lists it for 89.95/pair. That's much more in the realm of reason. Check out AGEClassic.com too.

        89?

that is not bad if true. for the SVO they are specific due to the mirror size (i might be wrong). As far as I know there is only nos left no reproductions yet.

That sounds like ones for a 87-93 Mustang - not a SVO. As Eric mentioned .. the SVO belt moldings aren't being repro'ed.

edit: I just looked at the link you provided. You can probably use the ones for the 79-86, but they'll need to be modified and will more than likely be Black in color instead of the correct Gray.

            All pretty much the same...

The "window wiper seals" as I call them AND the window channel track felt are all basically the same for hatchbacks and coupes from 79 to 86. The window wiper is different for the convertibles but can be modified to work ( have them on my 85 GT convert ). Bud is correct that the metal part of the window wiper is painted black but if you're careful you can slide the rubber strip out then paint them SVO grey and reinstall the rubber strip after the paint is THROUGHLY dried. Scuff up and degrease the metal trim and use a self etching primer ( Eastwood is my preference ) several light coats of primer then light coats of paint work best. If you try to put it back before the paint is fully dried / cured it will cause the rubber to drag and possibly rip / tear. You can use a hair dryer to speed things along and it helps to cure the paint. It also helps to spray silicone lubricant or WD-40 on the rubber to help it slide... been there done that! ALSO to change either the window channel and or the window wiper you need to remove the door panel and mirror. That's about all I can think of at this time...
