Anyone got any pics of 2 1/16" autometer gauges in stock dash locations such as Jon Dell Blair has? Also I was thinking of installing Autometer Speedo and Tach in stock location as well. Does anyone know what size will fit with slight modification to dash gauge cover? Also, to install an aftermarket Speedo such as the autometer electric, how do we install it being there is a speedo cable and all?
I don't have pictures of it, but have seen a similar installation in an 86 SVO 9L that was later wrecked. I didn't care for the modification.
In my opinion if you are going to do this, get the instrument cluster out of a Mustang GT and carve that up . That way you can save your stock SVO cluster and return the car to original at a later date!
So guys about the Autometer speedo, if i was to get the carbon fiber type gauge (matches interior), will is work with the stock cable or what would i have to do to make it work? I do have stock gears but i also have 17s too soo... if i can at least get it withing 2-5mph accurate, then thats cool.
Hey thanx for the reply tim, i have seen this site before and i kinda like the way the gauges look sorta like on the homepage.
I guess no one could tell me anything about the aftermarket speedo. I did read somewhere i think it was FourEyedFoxBodied?.com where they had the instructions about having to change cable gears. But does anyone have info about this?
The Autometer electric guages are a bit more expensive and you have to buy a sender, but they have a system that lets you calibrate them. All you have to do is press a button and drive for 2 miles and press the button again and it already calibrates it for you. You can go back and do it again if you get new tires, gears, etc. Call and talk to an associate and they can give you some more info.
