Good thing you don't live close by.
I would try to work on this project too.
Time to clean up the engine bay!

You can not pull it out of the mold easily. It would have to be a two part mold to do it right and still wouldn’t be the easiest thing to pull. Plus, I happen to like the bezel’s parting line. It will make it look more incognito. The existing fiberglass hood out there now has this one piece design, that and among other things it makes it look cheap.

I’m estimating the weight to be 5 to 7 pounds in carbon. I haven’t weighted the existing hood. Any ideas?

                Hoodie

Mike, I probably don't have to tell you this...but that hood is beautiful. I'd take the glass hood if it looks like that. All I've seen look mighty cheap.

would you be doing the wings also? and i think i know what you meant for the svo hoods in glass looking cheap, as in the cobra r/svo hood for all the other mustangs that have a sharper looking edge at the scoop.

The wing is a four or five part mold if I remember. It is not as complicated as the GT break scoops, but just big. Expensive mold. But let’s see what happens with the hood. The good thing is the parting lines are still on the injected part. That makes it easy.

Here's a link to a local shop with supplies and books on carbon fiber.

I came across it in my job-shopping.
I'm considering a move into carbon-fiber shops. There seems to be more in Indy than I thought.
If it ain't broke... Give me some time!

OK, since we got off topic in the parts wanted section...
I may have the ability to make carbon fiber parts soon. I interviewed at Advanced Composites (www.advancedcomposites.com) and probably have the job.
They are a contract shop that does about anything out of carbon fiber.
There was interest in the rear wing also.
So how is the progress on your hood?

i would really like to take a look at what youre doing, i started looking at my 944 hood, and i have a ton of friends in cncinatti that autox and race that i could make for them for cheap.....but all of my ideas are kinda theories...ive only cast stuff in hydrocal for small parts in school.

I’ve been busy filling GT scoop orders. I have a lot other things going on also. Thus, haven’t touched the hood for a while. But, I feel the heat. Thanks. I’ll get back on it this weekend. Not including the weather is starting to get better. I mean Dayton is over and F1 has started. That means it time for us northerners to get our sh!t together.

Kenny I sent you a PM.
