Does anyone know if the front bumper clip from a 87-93 5.0 will fit on an 84 SVO? I go got into an accident and it will be easier for me to do this than to get SVO part.

    Thanks,

The fenders are the same. By the time you add up a hood, bumper, nose cover and bumper support, you will find it easier to just replace the SVO parts with used SVO parts. You might save a couple hundred dollars now but it would certainly reduce the value at least twice that. Used lights are pretty easy to find theses days with the repos out. Then there is the issue of what to do with the intercooler inlet.

The lights for the SVO are quite expensive though. If I could do the conversion, then the 5.0 lights are very easy to find and not expensive at all.

What were you talking about with the intercooler inlet. Would the 5.0 clip block this?

The bumper cover, header panel, headlight adjusters, bumper to fender brackets / supports, and inner turn signals are all available from SVPU. The hood is also available in fiberglass from a different vendor. If you join SVOCA you will receive a "Members Only" discount on all these parts. They are all direct bolt on items. The bumper cover and inner turn signals are produced from the original Ford tooling. Please reconsider putting the aero nose on and fix it back to the SVO. Also since it's an 84 these are standard Sylvania glass headlights and are cheap and available from virtually any parts store. Do NOT confuse them with the flush 85.5 / 86 style headlights ( which are also in repo from original tooling ).

          86-93?? Bleh!

Don't do it man, i know it sounds tempting and easy and all but i say just replace the broke stuff. If you convert to a later yar fox, it will look like another weird dumb@ss hybrid SVO/5.0. If you post what you need, im sure we all got some used parts thatll work for you, i got the 84 early style headlight buckets and chrome rings. Also got some yellowed flush 86 style headlights and/or yellowed inner markers for temporary use i guess.

Reconsider as the SVO is unique in styling as well with it's single headlight style front end and square fog lamp holes which i like better than latey GT style roundies. Also, the hood matches the intercooler inlet best and if you go with a later front clip youll need a new hood and the "SVO scoop" aftermarket hood's scoop is in the center and doesn't line up correctly to the intercooler.

The 5.0 hood has no hole in it. The after market fiberglass hood (SVO type) to fit with the 5.0 nose, probably has the hole in the wrong place. Besides, now your spending $$$$ for a fiberglass replacement hood.

Take your time, look around, you will find SVO parts. It's not worth the trouble to change everything over.

The SVO fiberglass hood I mentioned is an exact duplicate of the steel hood with reinforced factory location hinge and latch mounting points. The scoop is in the proper location. It does NOT come with the trim ring.

                what about the hatch

I also have some issues with my hatch. The upper wing was broken when I got the car, but I managed to get it on the hatch. I believe the hatch is missing the tapped nut like thing that the wing screws into. It doesnt appear to be an easy fix. So I was wondering how to fix that up so it would look better. I can take some pictures of it if you guys dont understand what I mean.

There are no tapped nut (nut inserts) on the hatch to hold the spoiler down. The 4 screws holes are just sheet metal screws witha dab of sealer on the end. The 2 studs on the upper spoiler really don't seem to do much as they always seem to break off.

Your choices are bigger screws or weld up the screw holes and redrill them. You could install nut inserts (65-73 Mustang mirror mounts) but it takes some experience and possibly a tool to do it.

                      Simplier

I used some drywall inserts to secure my stripped out upper spoiler holes. You know, the colored ones they sell at Lowes for about $.12 each. Got em' at the Richmond Ky Lowes for that matter during the 04 Reunion. Still holding well.

The McLaren is very similar to the SVO. Lots of people have heard about them but unless you have one they don't really know much about them. It's a bit harder to sort out what was Ford and what was the aftermarket conversion. The fuzzy dash panels and the steering wheel are the same as the SVO. I bought car for my wife last year. She wanted a red Vet and there was no way I was buying that. She loves the car but doesn't remember to drive it. It's in pretty good shape considering 100K+ miles and the age. We are slowly cleaning it up. I just painted the dash, console insert, ash tray, steering column and seat belt sleeves. Recovering the Recaros is next. The SVO is the show car and the McLaren is a driver. Funny thing, The McLaren got more attention at the Knotts Berry Farm show than my SVO. I guess because it was the only McLaren Capri at the show.

                              hood

www.carpartswholesale.com has hoods for a decent price, but the picture doesnt seem correct. If anyone is interested I would check it out and call them to see if its really the SVO hood.
