        Hatch

I know the 84s are different with decals but on my 86s

On left "MUSTANG" and SVO (5/8" gap)

On right the Ford Blue Oval. There should be no locator pins on the trunk oval (unlike the hood oval), just adhesive

Paul, one question....don't mean to hijack....do the new hood emblems come with new nuts for the studs? One of my studs got broken off somewhere in it's lifetime, and the nut is still with the broken piece of stud.

my car had the holes for the Blue Oval badge on the hatch. I remember seeing the holes when I would go out to the body shop each day to take update pics. I assumed that the body shop used them to line up the badge. However, I do NOT know if they used a Badge with locator pins. here is a pic of when my car was in the body shop a few months ago.....it shows the holes in the hatch... you can barely see them...

again, I assumed that it was because of seeing the holes in my hatch...

Richard, Look right. I didn't think the rear had pins???

Navy, the nuts didn't come with the NOS emblem I got, but I have a whole box of the silver speed nuts. Bought them at a body supply shop, even though I needed only 2 and I couldn't take the 5-finger discount for a measly 2 Cost me like $20 for the box of 200!!!

Next time you have something going out, I'll put a bunch in there.

                    Why? Too much wind resistance?

I looked it up in the Ford manual, and it doesn't even address the Blue oval badge at all. It shows the MUSTANG badge, and the SVO (sticker only), but doesn't give any dimentions as to placement.

I think this thread gives me enough info to place the emblems on my 86. But I have a couple quick questions.

I need the three SVO emblems and the Mustang Emblem for the deck. I found emblems from a number of places.

Does anyone have a place they would receommend getting all four of these from?

And I have only found one SVO emblem. So, on the 86, is it safe to assume the three SVO emblems all the same emblem?

Yep, all of the SVO badges are of the same size. 50resto, PPI, Motion Dynamics and Sacramento Mustang have the correct badges for our cars.

I think only the 84's had decals on the front fenders and the 85 & 85.5's had nothing, then the 86's had the emblems. As for the rear hatch, I think the 84's had an SVO decal and the rest of them had the SVO emblem. I could be wrong though. Also, I am sure when you get close to the model cross-over points all bets are off. Trust me, I work in manufacturing and sometimes things get a little fuzzy on model year changeovers. It all depends on when the inventory of the previous year runs out as to when the actual switch really happens.
