I've looked into recovering my torn grey leather SVO seats and decided that $1000 could be spent better elsewhere on the car.

I'm trying to avoid going with seat covers not only because of their cheapness but i find them truly uncomfortable.

The only solution then I've found, and its not a great one because the original seats are great, is replacing the seats with some from another mustang or a reasonable facsimile there of.

Is there a cheap way (say under $300) to repair/ replace these seats?

Can I take seats out of another car and use them in my SVO?

    Has anyone done this?

if so, what seats out of what cars fit?

    Thanks for your help

I have seen many other seats in svo, from 79 pacecar seats to recaro race seats. I even looked at a set out of a escort GT that were OK.

The leather seat covers that are made for the svo are very nice.
I forget who makes them but they are top notch and not that bad a price.
140cilx has a set and they are worth the money!
Time to clean up the engine bay!

The seat tracks are no different than any other fox body.
The leather seat replacements are no longer available. The vendor has also been removed from the "Member's Deals" section

Most all Mustang seats from 79 and up will fit the SVO. There are just 4 bolts that hold the seat tracks to the seat bottom. I've found that the 1999 and up seat bottoms are thicker and this makes you sit alittle higher / closer to the ceiling. I'm 5'10" and it only leaves about 3" or so from the headliner. There's no way I could wear my helmet. Save your old seats as the leather repros may come back someday.

Does anyone here have seat covers on their car?

Do they fit well? Are they comfortable?

If you do have some, could you post some pictures and let me know where you got them?

          Thanks, Sean

I even used leather turbo coupe seats in my SVO before I found a set of nice SVO leather seats- they are actually pretty good, and I put them in my '67!!

btw- if anyone in so-cal is interested in a free set of blueish leather turbo coupe seats- I should be pulling them shortly for a set of recaros I scored.

I've heard that they're pretty good but tend to be harder / less padding than the SVO seat. But I have never sat in them so I guess it depends on your preference. As far as seat covers I would make my own on road trips. I have a couple of old large beach towels with bungee cords. Tie knots in the corners and put the hook through and under the seat. I did this on my trips to the beach and could then rinse them out in the hotel shower. Good for a temporary fix but definitely not permanent.

                  SVPU is getting the patterns.

I read a post on the other SVO site that indicated that Paul at SVPU is getting the set of patterns for the leather seat covers. Paul, Is this true? When do you think you will be offering the kits?

All Paul said is they patterns are safe, he didn't say he was getting them.

                        Flo Fit Sport Seats

I put a set of Flo Flit Sports seats in my 88 5.0 LX and they were superb seats. I dont recall the cost of them but around $300 each seems like what I remember. They looked very good and were grey. They would be a bit light in color for the SVO but they wouldnt look completely out of place either. THat said I dont know of thet are still in business but the made a damn nice seat back in the day. Mine were cloth. I assume they offered leather as well.

I have a set in my car. I got the idea from Bud who has a set in his. They are nice seats! Word of caution though, because of the seat track and adapter I had to use for the Recaros, my seat sits a bit higher then stock SVO seats. I'll get a pic and post one for ya.
