I was wondering if any one has a pick of an aftermarket headliner installed, with a factory sun ruff. How's the fit and function?

I just went to the local Upholstry shop with my cardboard removed from the car, picked out what I wanted, they (the Uph shop) cleaned my cardboard - sprayed it with adhesive - and applied the new stuff. Cost - $25 (might be a wee bit more now). I went home and re-installed the headliner.

Sunroof
If you have a trim shop re-use your board, they will need to leave additional material around the sunroof hole so you can reglue the material to the metal roof section like the factory. You won't be able to use cloth headliner material, only the vinyl material. Can you re-use the OEM vinyl material and just have them reglue it to the board?

The way the original headliner is attached, the vinyl folds over and is glued to the seam that the inner sunroof weatherstripping is attached to. So there is the possibility of water intrusion there that would stain the fabric.1986 1D - An oil return and rear end away from FINALLY being fully streetable again!

If you are referring to the ABS headliner board they do not fit well. We actually tested one for the manufacturer on my Cobra car last week. They dont have them straight yet so I would suggest you wait a bit if you are after that type. Bud has it right. My local fabric store actually carries headliner material now. Some spray adhesive and $20 worth of headliner material and cut the holes with lots of room for error before you put it in. Unless your origninal board is disintegrating this is the way to go.

I just put one of the sunroof headliners in from 50resto.com, I'll get you a couple of pictures. It was an ok kit, not quite perfect fit. The cutting and gluing around the sunroof was tricky and I didn't do a great job. But it looks much better that what was there so I am ok with it.

I had mine done...and the guy cut the hole around the sunfoof so I had to have it redone...then he redid it and I cut the material to short...so this time I took it to my upholstry shop like I should have done in the first place...since he didn't take it apart he didn't know how the black cover over the hindge goes back on....I took it apart and I cant figure out how that goes back on....plus it has a little crack so I have to get a new one....
