Has anybody bought the reproduction hood pad? Just wondering if they are OK or not. Just a bit concerned about them not being contoured to fit like the originals. And No I don't want to spend $500.00 on a NOS one, If I do that I'll end up doing a total restoration and never drive it again..

Mike;
You earned the two GOLD points today for pointing out that flaw on those pads (or rather what tears them up).
I'll say, nothing fits like N.O.S. We as a group must demand decent repro's for these companies making them or we just won't buy it (period).
I'd rather "nurse" my original then to throw some ugly bad fitting repro on it.

I thoutht that I should show everyone a different option for the SVO hood pad. I had the reproduction SVO pad on first. Then I went to the GT reproduction pad. I think it looks better than the flat pad. I would still like an original but I can't find one and they are very expensive. One of our vendors has the GT pad for sale. Yeah, a NOS one would be nice, but does it really matter when the original one from ford didn't fit worth a darn. Come-on now....I've spent the money on a NOS one and it was a waste of money....as soon as you started the car it tore right where Mike pointed out they do. I'm all for reproduction, but I would rather see a reproduction one that was BETTER then the stocker.....

Without making a long story
Critters got underneath the hood, $0 deductable, fire near distriburer. Car towed, everything fixed for free (kinda), new pwr steering pump, new alt, new dist, and all stuff. AND HOOD PAD
Hood Pad unavailable. They Mod'ed a 1988 (circa) hood pad they (body shop)had on hand. Ask Joe T. Turned out nice with prancing horse too.
Looks Good
If you can get your hands on a late(r) model Fox Mustang, perhaps some simple mods will make you as happy as it did me, good luck.Chris Weber

I had an NOS pad I sold because I heard they still had rubbing issues. I think I sold it for $400. It was brand spankin new in the original Ford box. I wonder if it ever got on the guys car and what it looks like now.Hoping to get on the track soon

By the way, as I type this I'm staring at an NOS hoodpad in the box. I believe Pat also has one or two in his collection.
