  • Gauge Voltage Reg

Is there any easy way to get to this thing? I just searched and read something about it being behind the cluster so i got the cluster pulled back a little bit, but i can't even squeeze my arm behind it to remove the speedo cable or anything to pull it out. What does the volt reg look like??? And, are they expensive?

    Thanks

I believe this is what you're looking for. It is located on the back side of the instrument cluster housing and you'll have to remove it from the car to get at it. It can be a PIA; be careful removing the speedo cable as it is EASY to break the clip holding it to the guage.

I can't really help you on locating one other then posting a Wanted Ad on the site. Looking at it, it really doesn't look like it is easily removed....almost looks like its "riveted" in.

(My understanding too is that the circuit on the back of the SVO instrument clusters is different from other Mustangs....but I could be wrong here)

Hey Mike - another question or theory on these I've heard is that they can not be removed (or must be maintained) if switching to aftermarket guages because its needed to somehow keep the alternator working properly. Any truth or other reason that this would need to be retained if swapping out all your guages?
