  • ACC Carpet

Got some new carpet for my 84 from late model resto and I was very impressed with late model but I very disappointed in ACC. The carpet kit is not very good quality wise. Aftter getting it in the car and postioined it is coming up an inch short in some places on the drivers side. The passenger side fits great . It has been in the car for a week now and hasnt settled anymore than when it was put in,lots of bumps and wrinkles . Spent a few hours last night witha heat gun trying to work them out. All in all I am not happy with ACC at all. As soon as time and funds allow I will be looking for a replacment. Anyone now of another company that does carpet for our cars?

Yeap. I am not a fan of ACC either. I have bought a couple sets of black carpet and one set of red over the years from them and all of them faded really bad over the years.

I just got a complete set of carpets/mats from Trim Parts - Color is called Medium Quartz. I haven't put the carpet in yet, but when I do, I'll tell ya how it went.

I have heard things about ACC in the past and when a fellow Fox body friend, that was making replica mats for 1993 Cobra's got thoroughly Sc**wed by ACC - I went looking for a different company when it was time for new carpet.

Color matches well, we'll see about the fit and quality.

Seems as tho ACC has slid in the dumper quality-wise all over! I haven't had the problem with late models as my 3 Foxes are FAR from needing new carpets. My experience comes from the original 65/66 era. Early ACC carpet in the 70's/80's was THE carpet to have as I went thru a line of restorations on 65/66's where their carpet fit like a glove and quality was top notch. My last resto, in progress as I type, fell victim to real crappy carpet...over 1 1/2" too narrow where formed for car interior width, too little material leaving bare floor showing, too much material along the driveshaft hump, colors not true and fade too fast, etc. The HiPo Mustang internet site has been in direct contact with ACC and have let it be known that their carpet has lost its quality and following to which a higher-up in the co. has written back that ACC is trying to right the quality slide. It remains to be seen if anything comes of this contact as there are many parts warehouses full of the shoddy carpet.

            acc carpet

I have a '66 mustang coupe with turquoise colored carpet that I have been taking to shows for six years and the color is fading to brown already across the transmission hump, and it is only out for shows. Otherwise it is in a garage out of the light.

                    acc carpet

I would ask who makes the carpet for Trim Parts because I talked to someone from Trim Parts at Carlisle and I think they told me that they get their carpet from acc.
I may be mistaken so double check to make sure.

I've heard the same thing about ACC on another board. Just bought some good used carpet since I have to ut it to fit the cage, shifter, etc.

I've had both the Trim parts and ACC carpets. They aren't even similar. The TrimParts piece is much nicer.

Can you post a few photos of the Trim Parts carpet installed?
What do you think of the quality and fit?
