  • Blue Oval Industries-STAY AWAY

Well, after ordering two different items which were supposed to be GENUINE FORD parts, I received them and one item has a made in India label on it with NO Ford part number or label and the other has a made in R.O.C. on it with no Ford Part number or label. I think this is called bait and switch. I called and complained and the guy told me that the parts ARE genuine Ford parts just repackaged. Hmm, that just doesn't sound like that is a true statement. Why would they go through the trouble to repackage, reseal and change the origin of where the part was made?

What part are we talking about here? I've dealt with them quite a few times and been happy.

Were the parts listed as NOS, or made with the original ford tooling ?

That's what I've heard about them. The advertise them as 'original Ford parts' but reality is they are made with Ford tooling and are not NOS.

            Cowl seal and Door handles.

On their website they state them as GENUINE FORD parts, not repros. On the invoice they state GENUINE FORD. Both are repros from India and China.

They are the only company authorized to reproduce parts on behalf of Ford. So technically, they are Ford authorized reporduction parts, made with the original ford tooling.

Where they send those molds to have the parts reporduced is up to them.

What they are certainly NOT is NOS...
I think it is a good point to bring up, so that people understand what they get when they order from BlueOval, but I don't think there is any grounds for a complaint.

First let me say that this only a rumor I've heard and not first hand experience. I have heard that the 85.5 & 86 headlights that they sell are just the ones that were reproduced by Daniel Carpenter have been passed off as "Original" NOS.

I've never had any experience with them.

                  Understood but......

They stated that the cowl seal is Genuine Ford, produced by Ford. I guess I am saying be careful on what you order. I personally will not deal with them again.

You do understand that Ford doesnt actually produce MANY of the smaller parts on their cars, right? Half the stuff on your SVO was made by outside vendors who supplied to Ford ... ie: the Bi-wings were made outside of Ford.

As Eric pointed out, BlueOval is an authorized Ford parts producer. However, the SVO parts they are selling are not NOS - they are reproductions from original Ford tooling. So technically - the cowl seal is "Genuine Ford".

                      Ford parts

Yep, I would say that 80% of the vehicle contains parts from vendors other than Ford, maybe more. I guess I thought that I would receive the parts in Ford bags w/ Ford part numbers, if it was stated that the part is Genuine Ford. I guess it's how you read into it. Maybe I read into it too much?? Anyone reading this, try 'em and see what your experience is. I however will not purchase from them again.

Mike - thats what I would have thought too, however I found this out the easier way by seeing someone post a similar thread to yours on another forum.

as far as quality goes, I don't think anyone has had any complaints.

They work well, and probably last longer than NOS would .
There is UV protectant "stuff" now we didn't have back in the 80's

But I don't have any proof that newer materials were used, just thinking outloud.

The parts are made with original ford tooling, so I would expect fit to be perfect. The inners I bought from SVPU are from the same distributor, and they fit perfectly.

I think you are mistaken here....Blue Oval is NOT the only authorized or even "authorized" to reproduce parts....Blue Oval has never even reproduced a SINGLE part for any Mustang. Blue Oval is no different than 5.0 Resto, PPI, myself, Mustangs Unlimited, Dallas Mustang or any other Mustang parts vendor. Blue Oval buys from Daniel Carpenter and other suppliers just like everyone else and Daniel Carpenter is the ONLY "authorized" business to reproduce parts and he is the one that gets the Ford tooling from Ford when they obsolete a part.

Blue Oval IS notorious in the business for advertising Ford "licensed" parts bought from Daniel Carpenter as NOS even showing pictures of Ford boxes which they never arrive in.

aside from their regular site Blue oval does sell on Ebay as well as Daniel Carpenter...but Daniel is dcmustang I believe.
