  • 2006 Mustang V6 wheels?

I looked/searched for posts of these wheels - didn't see any (even in the "Will these wheels fit?" sticky thread). Anybody running these? Chalky's are similar, but his are off a late-model GT. These are 16x7, 5-1/2 backspace. I think there should be room for 1/4 less positive offset w/stock size tires. Just wondering if the center hub on a V6 wheel might be too small.

Thanks Steve. Not diggin' the look on the car, even if it's just for autocrossing - maybe partial painted black like Chalky's. Plus they're still kinda heavy too. I think I'll keep looking.

Those wheels WILL NOT bolt onto the SVO front rotors...on the rear they fit just fine. I know this because I have those same exact wheels on my car-see my profile pic.

The way I got them to fit up front was to convert to SN95 spindles & hubs. It has to do with the hub-centric hole in the wheel being too small to fit the "hat" on the rotor.

jcamper has those wheels on his 2A as well but painted all black. They are what i described as a "Halibrand" style wheel without the spinner.

My wheels are 17X8 off an '08 GT

Thanks for the tip. I know I could order up something, but I'm tryin' to find something fairly quickly thats probably used, hopefully significantly lighter, easy, and within my limited wheel budget.

If you want something light and cheap for auto-x, you might consider the 99-04 V6 wheel like in my avatar.

Best of all, it is easy to clean off the brake dust.

Excellent!! I may have found a set of these for $90 - and they weigh only 14lbs!

Do you still have the stock brake hub? Did they require machining?

Everything is stock. If your car is lowered, you may have some slight rubbing on the rear fender well, but the lip can be easily messaged to clear with a plastic hammer.

I thought it was mentioned you had to stay 16x7. That's why I didn't mention the 99-04 wheels like Mike and I have. IIRC they're 7.5" wide

Chalky is right, I have these and have run them on a couple autocrosses/track days. I need to get them machined to fit properly still, I have two spacers stacked under each front wheel and extended wheel studs right now. Not optimal by any means. They handle great that way, the extra track width helps, but still, not a long term fix. For autocrossing stock class I would say that you are right about using the extra .25 inch allowance the rules give you. I maxed the negative camber and used crash bolts to give me a touch more on the fronts. With the stock wheels and 225 RS-2s I was getting some rubber marks on the struts. I think if you were to use these 05 and up v6 wheels with one spacer you might be able to get a wider tire on, which would help tremendously in stock class. I see you can get a 245/45 in v710s, I am thinking that would be perfect. These wheels are 18 pounds, which is a nice side benefit for their cost. I painted mine and picked up some of the spinner style center caps (which I painted also obviously). Once you machine them and they sit all the way down on the front spindle I don't know how you would get a center cap on them. Jeff
