Paul, so is it a good idea to run the factory pressure, 28psi, with a different tire brand or find a pressure specified by the manufacturer?? Should pressure be checked hot or cold?? Just curious.
Pay no attention to the recomendation on the car.....base your pressures off the tire manufacturer. So much has changed in 20 years and different tires will carry different pressure recomendations. I check them cold for street use......when at the track I constantly watch them and use my pyrometer to check temps and adjust pressures based on that.
Also check tire pressures when seasons change.....
Rubber enough for treadwear indicators? Hell, that's just broke in. I know from personal experience that there's at least 300 or maybe even 400 miles just on the fabric. Iffins it wont hold air, just put another tube in it.
I'm picky about tires....if it's close to the wear indicators then they become cheap autocross or track day tires(Yokohamas used to be really great tires for track days when nearly worn out).
