I guess I'm just not getting it. What section would they be moved to if deemed worthy? Bud mentioned wasting bandwidth. Wouldn't the removal of sections like the 2002 reunion that haven't had any activity in over 3 years help free up space? The only picture gallery I know of is for parts only or is there something I've missed? I don't want to be a pain but that's probably a lost cause by posting this reply. I think it would go a very long way in the interest of good PR for the clubs credibility to show we mean what we say. I would use it as ammunition for those who would rather bash us and part out. I'm just getting tired of seeing more and more SVOs lost and we show pics of them. My contribution would be my 7B and the 4E eventually. I think they're both worthy candidates. The 7B came from the suburbs of Baton Rouge ( Prarieville ) and would have most likely been lost in Hurricane Katrina. While I haven't done anything to the 4E both Don and Joe have done alot to save it and I'll finish it someday. If it doesn't fly with you guys now maybe sometime in the future.

Space and bandwidth are 2 seperate things --
and deleting those sections would free up about 1 megabyte, so it's not really even worth the trouble.

I don't see how showing someone what can be done with before and after pics is going to motovate someone that don't like SVO's in the first place.

In all honestly Ken, what you are talking about is a braging rights section, where you can say look what I did. I'm even cool with that, but it's not a lot to do with saving cars.
There are people out there resurecting 64.5's that are vin tags, attached to a pile of rust, so I'm not sure we are going to impress anyone with a section like this, or sway anyones judgment on a car. Not busting on you, just being realistic.

We move stuff deemed worthy out to the misc pics section, if I get enough of them, then we can create it's own catagory under the pics section, but right now, we're up to 2 threads in 4 years..

Nuff said Ken ... it's a closed topic. We're not creating the new topic section for saved cars.

Here's an idea for you (and everyone else interested in this topic) - restore your cars, make/take a detailed photo history and diary of the rebuild and then CREATE a website that's dedicated to the story. YOu get total control of the site and the creativity in how it looks. Then you can post up the URL here on the forum for everyone to link to it - heck put it in your sig line. It's not a new concept, many have already done this and it doesn't require Eric to spend more time on your projects or for the club to float the space/bandwidth/etc.

          Hello All,
I think you guys are missing the point. Ken's idea is not about bragging rights or look at me, look at me. We can all post to our hearts content about those things. Hell, I know i do

The point is, someone who comes here casually looking for info on SVO's, isn't going to wade through post after post looking for info. Maybe they saw a car in a junkyard and thought "what if?" I think this is the sort of person Ken is thinking about and I agree with him. We need to do MORE to encourage people who know nothing about these cars to get involved. The mission statement of this clubs is about preserving these vbehicles and i think this is one small step towards doing so.

My experience being new to SVO's and this forum is that there is not a whole amount of info out there unless you know WHERE or HOW to look for it. I also think that the idea of creating your own website is a good idea but some of us don't have the time or knowledge to do this. I don't think it is a bad idea to create a simple space with a few photos to show what can be done.

At the end of the day this is a membership driven organisiation and I think all members ideas should be addressed on thier merits. I do find the arbitrary statements a little tiresome at times and I don't think it paints a very good picture to newcomers who may be somewhat disuaded by such comments regardless of their intent of who they come from.

            Chris,

I didn't miss the point, but maybe you missed my last comment on the subject? It was the Board's decision on the matter.

BTW - there's MORE to this club and website than this FORUM. I think most of you who have settled into the forum as the only place you visit fail to remember we have much more for visitors to view on www.svoca.com than this BBS forum.

              Hi Bud,
no I didn't miss the point that's why I posted. A couple of points...We all know that the BB isn't the only place to look for info and I don't think having a thread ,as Ken sugggested, is the best idea. My first port of call was the website and I moved on from there. We have a "Wall of Shame" but we have no POSITIVE equivalent. But the fact of the matter is, it's much easier and quicker, in my opinion, to find info on the BB.

If you think it's a better idea to post photos of this type in the Members Cars Section, as you did with the 4E, well maybe thats the best way to do it. I personally don't think it's the best way to prove to someone that these cars can be saved fairly easily. Sounds cheesy but why not have a "Wall of Fame"?????

I look at it this way, the point of this whole club is to curb the mentality of "it's got a dented 1/4 panel, I'm gonna part it". So Bud, if you can suggest a better way of doing it, please do so. I can only think that the casual observer is not gonna go into the detail of searching as you think they will.

              Anyways, nuff said.
