All signs point to yes, and the wife might be running the SVTC as well

starting to hit the areas of the fuel table where stock is richer then the 12.5 target i was using for tuning. so next step is to get a narrow band O2, feed that into HEGO in, and get it to settle out under idle/cruise. then i get to work my way up WOT tuning to red line, and then off to the concrete dyno!

ill get some pics up when i get back this week.
Umm....not sure about all this stuff, but I do know that I like tator tots!

Glad to hear she is up and running fine Alex. Cant wait to see the dyno numbers from ya!

I really do like tator tots!

you're still talking real close to quarter pound tator tots, no matter how you fudge the numbers, them some big tots.

yay, pulled a stupid today. think no harm done.

.. finely ground tater tots == hash browns.

i digress. swapped over to a new la3 .bin with proper backflow code, idles much better. now im haunted with an alternator light >4k and 14.8v @ idle. off to the search...

alternator mount post took an unscheduled work stoppage. broke the mounting tab right; teach me to use aluminum for a high vibration application. hacked up bed frame bracket and early model case tractor alternator bracket it is! need to bend up another piece of steel for additional torsional bracing.

got stick of being beat to death by the sloppy drive train and crappy idle; so i spent a bit this morning tweaking on the backflow airmass clip tables. set my MAF transfer to my airmass @ 1.2v (anything under that is pure noise, freewheeling, 1.2v @ 2k rpm, 1.1v @ 900rpm) from 0 to 1.2v, which forces the MAF clip to take effect. then ran the throttle stop from 1700 down to 900, adjusting backflow clip to get STFT to settle down close to 0. seems to have fixed the stalling issue, and the throttle lift isnt nearly as jarring. was able to drop 250rpm off my base idle as well. effectively running closed throttle as alpha-n.

dropped the boost back down to 10psi, there is something to be said about being able to just hop in and romp away, rather then keeping an ear out for knock. new .def file seems to play nice with eec editor, and its reporting correctly should be smack dab @ 300hp/300tq at the wheels @ 12psi-sh. *crosses fingers* they have $30/3 dyno pull specials running at modular depot, might swing by there Monday or Tuesday and confirm.

got some poly front sway bar link rods coming in, as well as poly transmission bushings. the sway bar bushings are on backorder.

this @#$@#$ car is going to be the death of me. if you roll into the throttle, all is happy. full WOT pulls to 6500rpm are fine besides a bit of a lug @ 2200rpms. if you shift 2nd or 3rd hard, instant knock. *grumble*

hopefully we'll get it straightened out before Friday. if this cant hit 300rwhp, the holset is coming off and im getting the T3 rebuilt. might as well get some of my 2500-4000rpm torque back. *grumble* *grumble*

hit 220 on the dyno, and had to fight it at the auto-x.

removed the 83# injectors last night, put the 35#ers back in. holset is coming out whence i retrieve some parts. likely being replaced with an IHI. expect a 'i hate my holset' sale soon.

relocated MAF to FMIC end tank in prep of turbo swap. still got a bit of noise in the MAFV baseline signal, but the timing under load is a lot cleaner then last week.

not gonna happen with the IHI, but i need to go back to basics and get the engine running well at power before i can move to anything else. in the mean time, would like to have a bit quicker, more analog boost response that doesn't chuck you into a spin when the turbo winds up.

holset is now on the shelf, engine prepped to be pulled for inspection. got word my transmission will be done this week. (yay!) if my other new shiny doesn't show up before SCCA season gets going, the t3 goes back on with the ranger roller to limp me through the first few months. switching from the 90mm OMG HUGE MAF down to a... much smaller one.

and i still gotta find that electrical issue thats causing the ECU to shut down randomly.

ordered 3 aux shafts from ford; 145 remaining available through ford. get em while they are still $100/pop.

change of plans in the past few days. holset is staying on, MAF is going bye bye and replaced with the SD/LA3 setup. ordered a 1.5 bo cam. that ranger roller sucks pretty bad

found the 'blow by' issue: misaligned head gasket. in the rush to put the engine together to make it to a reunion a few years ago, i didn't put the locator dowels in. #4 was blowing combustion gases into the oil galley return, and beyond. whole back of the engine from head gasket down was covered in oil. i thought it was a rear main seal...

from the cylinder wall wear, the total seals appear to have bedded in without issue. the spec stg 3+ OTOH, not even fully bedded by a long shot. had a few pads where less then half the surface was bedded. needs MORE POWER. hope to have it back on the road on sunday! to pick up today, new head gasket, C4 coolant lines, dizzy from the junkyard, and various other knick nacks...
