If there was no sag to the upper, I would just seal it up and move along, no need to mess with something that seems to be good.

Gray's can be interesting colors depending on the pigment and metallic in them. My '17 Mini is Moonwalk Grey, which has real fine metallic fleck in it, so in daylight it is a medium-light gray, but at dusk/night it is a very dark gray. Almost looks like a different color altogether.

I think the baltic gray will be very dark in the shade or at night but will really stand out in the sunlight. I hope the black trim "pops" and stands out enough. I think it will. Car should be done this week at some point but they still have to do all the trim and I have to drop off the wings also.

My upper wing was one that I picked up recently. It was splitting at the seams bc the internal screws are stripped out BUT the wing has no sag. I ended up using some 2-part adhesive to make stay tight at the seams but ended up using long strand fiberglass filler to cover the seams and worked them smooth. A real PITA and I hope it stays together bc it came out good. I will post some pics
A helper and LOTs of masking tape are your friends during reassembly. Really, set the tape in your way so you have to touch it to get started each day. That way you're not 'Oh, EFF!! I forgot the tape!'

        Nice work on the wing!

          Thanks Gene
The pics of the wing do not do it any justice either. I spent days working on it and experimenting with long hair fiberglass and 2-part panel adhesive trying to keep the gaps closed on the seams. I dropped them off at the body shop and they will spray them tomorrow. The car is getting sprayed Monday.

When you say masking tape, do you mean to tape right on the fenders and doors etc...to protect as I install things?

Yes, especially on the edges, if you're doing things like hanging hoods and doors. Towels and old quilts help, too. If you don't have any that can be used (although once done, a quick trip through the washing machine will remove all evidence), Harbor Fright moving mats are an excellent substitute.

Nice! It's really cool seeing it all in one color for the first time, right?? That's a nice color choice there. Base coat, clear coat? And are you going to shoot the rub strips on the bumpers and the wings in the OEM-style color?

This was the first coat, I dont think they shot the clear yet. I did not take the pics of the car in the booth. The trim and all areas that require trim paint will be painted in a semi-gloss including the wings and window trim etc...

It will be closer to an 84 trim color and Dark Gray Paint that may or may not be that close to a factory color. It is close enough for me though and the engine bay lower areas that are original color will be a pretty close match as well. I did not pull the motor for painting the engine bay. This will not be a show car but it is getting a ton of love. I broke my butt on the tail lights getting them ready and restored to match the new semi-gloss trim paint...

Should be home this week sometime for the arduous task of reassembly. I am trying to keep it factory "looking" with a modern version of factory "Dark Grey Metallic". I will have all the repo stickers etc that go on the header panel, passenger Jam, Driver door etc... it should end up being a good compliment to original looking but not actually original...a tribute to an SVO

Paint is done. The trim looks ok but it is too dull for this particular color. They are going to respray the trim in a semi-gloss or a more shinier satin.

That is a nice looking gray there for sure! Looks quite a bit like Ford's Magnetic on the current Mustangs from my memory.

The color looks better than what I hoped for. I have not had time to do anything to it since I got her home. The wheels are off getting re-finished and parts are everywhere. I had my sons baseball tournament at Doubleday field and just got home but am leaving 1st thing tom for a week on Jersey shore...such bad timing on getting the SVO back...LOL.

This SVO is going to look awesome when assembled. I will make a HD video and upload to youtube when it is done bc pics wont do it justice...but that might take some time...smh

That DOES look nice. Congrats on getting it home.

Car is going back to body shop on a few missed spots. The front of the facia under hood latch was not hit so well, the vents ? areas??? next to the fog lights were not up to my liking, and the inner area of the engine compartment jamb had some tape pulls (they painted in engine compartment but did jambs first and then exterior of car), a few tape lines in the jambs of the hatch that I want them to knock down a little better. overall car came out great.

Finishing up the hatch wiring and wings, tail lights are installed, and hatch lock and latch mechanism
