  • This weekend we will run the car up and down the airstrip one more time. Geoff and I realized that we only turned the car to the left when we checked it two weekends ago. We'd run down to the end and then turn left through the knuckle.

So we'll go down and turn right, and we'll setup some cones and slalom it a bit.

The rest of the weekend will be getting it ready for March 8,9th at Thunderhill. We'll flush and bleed the brakes, charge the Accusump, regrease the front wheel bearings, install the radio (nooo, the crew to driver radio, not the Sirius). I was toying with the idea of putting the BOV on and Water/alky, but the current safe tune was done without them. Neither one is easily accomplished given the shortness of the charge tubing. I have to drill and tap the compressor housing for the water/alky and drill the throttle body and scab in a fitting for the BOV.

We plan a pretty low-key weekend at Thunderhill, 4 20 minute sessions each day in HPDE 4. I doubt that we will get too many unimpeded laps to really let the car run hard. I'm running Saturday, Geoff is running Sunday.
We arranged for the AI series director to tech the car for AI legality. That way we won't be caught by something when we actually race. We'll be going, rain or shine.

If the weekend goes well, and we don't bugger something up, we're going to an open test day on the 13th. That should give us the first real chance to leg it out.

    Bob

I'll see if I can get some decent pictures of AI cars while we are there on the weekend.

While you at it, why don't you plumb the motor for Nitrous?

      • Nitrous isn't allowed in AI, but maybe I can sneak a bottle of Nitromethane in the water alky.

        • Puttin it on the trailer tonight!! I've spent way to much time over the last 4 days and nights making sure everthing is ready to go. I don't know if you ever feel completely ready, but we set a deadline to get it in the trailer this evening. Roger will come over tomorrow evening to pick it up, and we'll leave after work on Friday.

We'll be running HPDE 4 at Thunderhill, I've talked to the TT guys and they want me to try one of the Time Trial sessions. Nice thing about TT is you can get your laptimes if you have a transponder. Of course we have thumbs and stopwatches so that will suffice for this outing.

I don't know if I'm excited or just relieved to finally get to the track. I'm sure the adrenaline will kick in as soon as I'm buckled in and the engine is running. What a rush that is!!

Saturday is projected to be 63* and mostly cloudy. Sunday is supposed to be 61* and has a 20% chance of rain. Geoff doesn't like driving in the rain, so we'll see if we even run on Sunday.

Not to be too flippant, but I wanted as short an intake track as possible in order to increase throttle response.

I like the way you think.

I thought I had it. I know a thing or two about GT's.
              Looks kinda weird huh.

              Edit: added an other.

              • Wow, thanks for the pics. The ones I have don't compare.

                  • They look like wire wheels to me.

I still have my spoke wrenches and spinner hammer! They are indeed very heavy! I use to true them and had a set on an MG!

                        • Hey Mike

I may recognize someone in that pic.

Is that our old mentor, Max?

                          • I want a set of those wheels, they are probably pretty expensive.

I do have an extensive collection that I’ve taken over the years.
