  • SN95 Cobra Swap ( Finally Done)

Well, I got the car aligned in the front this morning. All is finished on the 2004 Cobra swap. I replaced the spindles, LCA, Koni struts to the Blisteins struts, replaced the inner and outer tie rod ends and replaced all springs with the Eibach springs and put braided brake lines on. The car rides alot better than I thought and boy does it stop good! I may be wrong but the car seems much flatter when I turn the car hard and at a faster speed. I replaced the SVO wheels with 2005 Bullitt wheels and Kumho 245/45/17. When I go out of a drive way with any speed and turn to the right the drivers side rear wheel rubs. But it doesn't rub when I am cornering hard. I will have to roll the inner lips on the fenders. I appreciate everyones help doing this conversion! I look forward to running it at Nashville on the 20th.

    cobra swap

It is all the cobra stuff...13" rotors with the cobra calipers.
I am curious though if the stock cobra pads are going to be good enough for the track?

Looks good!! What spring rate did you use? What did you do for caster/camber plates? On your steering rack did you use any offset bushings? Inquiring minds would like to know!!

No offset bushings it is all off of 2004 cobra. No C/C plates. Ihave -2 degrees if strut all the way in, if I want to run at track. MM told me these springs are stiffer and progressive but don't know what the rate is. Lowered the car 1" 1.5" in rear

I didn't realize that the strut mount would fit. I replaced the strut mount on my 03 cobra w/ FRP caster/camber plates and the steering effort decreased. Enough that my wife noticed and liked it! The bearings in the plates are starting to rattle abit now and I am going to have to replace them!http://www.svoca.com/forum/images/smilies/angry.gif

I talked with PPI about the stock pads when I bought the Cobra calipers. They thought the stock pads work would well for track day use. As Mike said, I guess we'll find out.

Did you need to replace the tie rods as part of the SN95 conversion? Also, please post some pictures with the new tires/wheels mounted. I'd like to see how the 245/45's look.

Here are some pictures ....I had to replace inner and outer tie rods because the stock ones were too short.

Well I am in an apartment until I finish my new house and I don't have a choice right now. It is covered though.
Mike, the front width I can't really tell if it is any wider . The front tires fit completely under the fender where the rear rubs a little. I have been driving it today and it is a different car! I am using the stock K-Member. Paul, I just went to my local parts store and found out that the difference between the SVO and SN 95 was the inner tie rod was I think 3/4" longer. and the outer tie rod was a metric female thread?

Did you use new dust shields or will the stock ones work?

i hate to re-ask this question but i am unclear on your statement. did you end up using the stock length inner and outer tie rods?

I called PPI about this today since it's hard to get a straight answer, even though I read every post I could find. PPI said the SVO tie rod ends SHOULD work fine. I wonder if the 94/95 spindles being different then the later years have something to do with this.

The SVO sway bar is also a subject of debate. Some people say it binds and need to switch to a SN95 GT swaybar and some say the SN95 bar binds and to keep the SVO bar.
