does this sound right? I'm looking all over for some shock/strut replacements and I've always liked KYB. I'm keeping the stock koni's although they are beat to hell.
this link says the 84-85 struts are the same as 94-mustangs.. ?? is that right?
I'll run to storage and look at them. I remember they came w/ a bushing for the CC plates. I'll go measure the hole sizes and spacing on the strut to see if they fit.
Well I hit the storage and what I had are the KYB AGX #734013. Its an adjustable strut. Looking at the 734013 on KYBs site it list it for the 87-93 mustang LX, GT and Cobra. I look at the original invoice and it says Ford Mustang SVO I checked the hole sizing and spacing and it fit the SVO spindle. It had a couple of sleeves to fit the SVO onion mount.
I called KYB and they say those won't fit the SVO..but they are going off what they see on the screen too.
I called Gabriel as well, and monroe, and a few others.
I've looked high and low and the cheapest I found the koni's were 160 each, but I did find a cartridge replacement for the Koni's that are 60 each so I'll probably go that route.
if anyone wants to know, they are Gabriel Cartridge replacements for the Koni's SVO struts, can be found at AutoZone. Part number is G44947.
To the best of my knowledge, KONI are the ONLY struts that properly fit the SVO suspension. All Fox chassis struts will bolt up to the spindle and chassis, but the camber angles won't be right.
This brings up an excellent point. Its a common practice to slot the strut for some additional camber. I have done this myself on a regular fox chassis, but not on an SVO. Are there any good recommendations for the SVO for slotting. How much and which hole? How about for an SN 95 conversion? If I remember correctly isn't the fox strut at a 16 degree angle and the SVO at 14?
Very nice pics Mike. I am using a torque arm and I run more spring in front, 425# 8", so I have alittle more tire clearance in front. Did you have an opportunity to play with the camber adjustment to get better bumpsteer?
I checked on the KYB AGX struts and so far have gotten 2 different answers if they fit the SVO from KYB. I will check to see if they fit the SVO onion in the morning.

I just got this back from KYB..
Brian,
We do not offer front struts for the SVO we only offer the rear shocks the part number you listed (235060) is for the 1994-04 mustang.
