I have a simple question. What is the most HP/torque that anyone has got using stock parts, Not porting and polishing, replacing valves...etc.. Just with simple bolt ons, what can someone expect to get?????

Ive read that thread but it doesnt give any numbers. I was looking for someone who had done some tweeking and spent a few hours on a few bolt ons( gillis valve, K & N ..etc) and had some dyno or track results to show for it.
Just read the one from forced4, good stuff. I would still love some real track numbers or dyno numbersLast edited by cmozez; 11-12-2008, 06:19 PM.Minimum standards NEVER guarantee success

Can't state dyno numbers-but I can talk about broken "stock" parts when racing! Seems that there are some "weak links" in the 2.3 EFI T/C that many can also a test to..
Aux shaft/distributer gear
Rods/rod bolt
Trans/3rd gear
Brake once-replace with better componets. In these cases, each fix required exponential increase in costs. Knowing this now, I wouldn't do a 2.3 EFI TC for track abuses. (Or if building only consider, steel rods/ARP, billet shaft, and Super Tex/Richmond trans-or less sticky tires)
SOMEONE should way in on effects of HP on other parts too! (brakes/suspension) If I recall, one of Matt accidents was related to suspension failure at speed. (I mention in that there is another thread resurfaced from 2002) HP and sticky tires can increase stresses and lead to premature failure. (His other total loss was to a out of control Porsche)
Mark
P.S. All of this is relative to the level of HP too! Many are under 400HP and have no problems with the above stock parts. Race for 1 hour and you will see all three mentioned. (not to mention the chance at a few wrecks)Mark

124,000mi 86 stock block and head , Forced 4 CAI kit, Gillis Valve set at approx 16lb (stock boost gauge), Turbo Coupe Intercooler, running a clutch fan with surpentine belt set up, no a/c, added a Adjustable Kirban FPR set to stock 39 psi,(Air/fuel curve was good, left alone). 93 oct gas = 195 rwhp 251 ftlbs @ 2007 reunion dyno session for a baseline...Tim T

My old 9L was putting something like 250-260rwhp with bolt ons. I did 'bolt on' a stock head that had been ported/big valves with a A237 cam - and topped off my highest measured rwhp/tq at 288hp/365tq and was still using the stock turbo and early style inline intake.Originally posted by cmozez View PostI have a simple question. Thanks guys, thats what I was wanting to know. Svobud, what bolt ons did you have when you were at 250-260? So you picked up about 30hp with the head? I don't want to get into changing the turbo, computer, injectors ..etc..
Jesse-- What was done to your car when you did the 13.6 and 1.7 60' time? Thats a great 60' time, how did you do it?Last edited by cmozez; 11-13-2008, 10:10 AM.Minimum standards NEVER guarantee success

I thought I had a thread that listed my parts and dyno runs. If not, I'll be doing it from memory. Dont have the time to list them today, but it was simple - 35# injectors, stock turbo, FMIC, exhaust to include a header.Originally posted by cmozez View PostThanks guys, thats what I was wanting to know.
