Mods: LA3 + injectors, K&N, FMIC, manual boost controller, exhaust, light port work, A237, pretty basic stuff. The 60' time is easy as pie. Nice hot Hoosier drag radials at ~16psi, both feet to the floor, dump clutch This is on a nicely prepped track, low-mid 1.8's at a crappy track.

After probably somewhere around 350 passes like this, the stock 7.5 finally decided to give up. Now it has an 8.8 and 3.55's out of a TC. Still gets the same short times, I think the car is a touch quicker with the taller gear.
    85 SVO 1B 13.62@97mph and 1.74 60' on the brakes!

Pretty sure the high TQ number was a result of using the older style inline intake. The longer/individual runners make for higher TQ numbers even on a V8. Look at the long runner intakes like a GT40 vs a breadbox style.

Exactly why I'm staying with the inline intake. The head I'm going to have the work done to is an early style head too....no additional bolt hole to drill/tap.

Bud's old car is a beast....had a ride in it while at the 40th on our way to a local Mustang salvage yard to pick-up some parts to fix my old blue one. I've heard it's a little quicker now since the vacuum leak was found.

I've got the GT40 intake and love it, but still that's a lot of torque coming out of this little motor. I'm still impressed.

Well, I guess I'm the only idiot that would do such a thing! Actually, I put the car on the dyno last year to try and diagnose a fuel system issue, then put it back on the dyno this year to verify that I had fixed it.

Last year the car had a bad FPR, a stock Walker replacement exhaust, and K&N filter with boost solenoid bypassed, allowing 15 psi boost. The car made 182 whp.

This year with a stock replacement FPR, new NOS cat-back exhaust system and same K&N and boost, the car made 189 whp.

I didn't build this car, so I don't know that it's totally stock, but all indicators point in that direction. The cat is still intact, it still runs the smaller injectors and computer. I've never had the valve cover off or even pulled out the plugs, but I'd attribute the hp numbers to the K&N filter and the added boost over stock (15 psi vs. 12 psi). I'd attribute the better numbers this year to the fixed fuel problem, the fact that the NOS exhaust was actually bigger than the Walker replacement exhaust and it was a little cooler this year.

I expect I can extract a little more hp out of it with a few other tricks like icing down the IC, and removing the A/C belt for less drag. I'm shooting for another 5-7 hp for next year.

Note that the car is a 85 model, and a later 85.5 or 86 should be able to do better in stock trim.

^also if ya put in better gas "100 oct" pull the K/S - bump the timing- new plugs, i'm sure you'll see better but then that would be just dyno numbers cause you woulnt run it like that all the time.

nah, I've done it.. not with the SVO, but while tuning my GT I dyno'd it at least 18 times in a day.. wasn't cheap, that's for sure.
