    the PCV hose routing is like in the pics here and goes into the underside of the upper intake. PCV is in the 2nd pic

      Yup, I've got it totally wrong and flowing backwards as well... Thanks again!

        unless your PCV is dumping air to the atmosphere, I don't see how it could cause a lean condition.

        for EGR, it's been discussed, the exhaust gas has a cooling effect, that helps with detonation. so some searches, you'll find lots on it.

          As far as the PCV goes, I would think it is inadvertently dumping to atmosphere through the oil cap and dipstick, eitherway I have the whole setup wrong...

          I did the research on how the egr has a cooling effect, interesting stuff, thanks for the heads up. My problem is that I dont currently have an exhaust port to plump it to, I have the Stinger header with a 3" down pipe. I wouldn't want to tap the header or the down pipe unless I absolutely needed to, although it is an option.

            Back to timing, does anyone have a good pic of the timing marks with the numbers still visable? I bthink I know where 10 degrees should be but would like to make sure.
            Also, what should I use for base timing if I want to run around 20psi of boost?

              I don't have a pic, but my cover has a small notch at zero. With that said, every 10* has a longer mark than the ones that symbolize every 2*. I made up a representation here.

              I took white out and put it on the crank pulley as well to make the mark stand out more.

              As for timing, go from 10* BTDC (with SPOUT disconnected) as a base and go from there.

                Wow, great explainations, I really appreciate the time you have taken to help me out!!! I guess as far as the egr goes, I have 2 options;
                1 - tap into the exhaust to reenable the EGR to work properly so that I dont get the lean condition under part throttle like I do.
                2 - Have someone burn a chip to put in the LA3 to compensate for the lack of the EGR system.

                Hey, I'm all for reducing emmisions when it's feasible to do so, especially if it actually helps keep the combustion temperatures down at the same time. I wonder how other people with header setups are plumbing the EGR...

                Where is the Reunion at, this is the first I heard about it, I never really leave the "Engine & Electronics" forum... Again, Thanks again for all the help and putting up with my ignorance in the discussion above...

                                Hey Navy, I just walked out to the car and looked at my timing marks and I actually had it set at the second mark up from 0 so that would of been 20 degrees!!! I'm glad I backed it off this morning on my way into work, I dont know where it is now but somewhere north of 10 for sure, I'll reset correctly tonight... I'm blaming this one on my buddy up the street who had an svo that told me the second line up from the notch was 10 degrees... Just kidding, he was just trying help and didn't remember correctly I guess... He used to be on this forum but, he sold his SVO a couple years back and bought a GT500, he has it putting 700rwhp to the ground... And, I get to drive it!
