The only thing you have to be concerned about is if your manifold to turbo gasket blows out the bottom, the hot gases can cause the silicon hose to harden and crack after a hard track day. The heat shield is insurance; however, I was able to make a 300 mile trip home with regular radiator hose and a tin can heat shield fabbed in the driveway.Mike S

Wow thanks for this info, I am gonna try something like this over the weekend.Originally posted by GAboySVO View PostHere is what I did with high-temp silicone hose and fittings from ATPturbo. I used an extension spring of the correct diameter to slide inside the 5/8" hose to keep it from kinking. What is not shown here is a heat shield that was added later to protect against heat from manifold that I got from Summit. The hose needs to be 8" long.
The hose can be installed with the turbo and turbo support bracket in place.
The other option is to braze the stock line to seal the crack, but im worried about the longevity of that fix.

I had the same issue with Stinger's line. I ended up cutting the braided line section out and slipped on some -8 AN hose i had laying around over the remaining ends. I put hose clamps on, wrapped it in heat shielding and viola......no more smoke. We will see how long it last though. I have Summit Racing's Twist Tite fittings and Hose ready to go in case my homemade one fails.
