  • Code 67

Well my string is below here with my "No spark from the coil thread".

I finally went to the 1984 Emissions and diagnosis book, and looked up the code, rather than just looking at the book that came with the tester.

The code I have is 67, which says to go to quick test FA, which then tells me to go to FA15, and KN15.

Both of which require a breakout box to test. Which I do not have.

Both tests if they do not work out indicate that the processor is bad.

    So my questions are:

    1. How do I test theseitems without the breakout box?
    2. Can I just taken the "processor" to Auto Zone and have them test it?
    3. What is the easiest way to drain the tank?

By the way, I have 18 psi of fuel pressure at the Schrader valve with KOEO. When I crank the motor the pressure rises to 32 psi.

I have spark at the plugs.

I have tested the injectors with the noid light.

    This is etremely frustrating.

My "boss" was rushing me this evening so I was unable to check the timing as of yet. I did bore sight the tab on the timing gear with O degree on the crank pulley. Thats when I had to stop.

    Thanks.

Just out of curiosity, did you check the timing belt..?

      Thanks.

      I have spark.

Does the fuel pressure sound right?

I will do the compression test, and starter fluid this evening.

To raise the fuel pressure before starting, turn the key on and off several times pausing inbetwen cycles to prime the fuel rail.

You should have ~35psi at the rail at idle with the vacuum hose on and ~40 ppsi with the vacuum hose removed. You might try removing the vacuum line from the FPR and capping the line to the intake. This will give you more pressure if your pump is week.

Well I checked compression all cylinders are at 150 lbs. +/- 5 lbs.

Checked timing cranking the motor, it is at 10 deg BTDC.

Checked all plugs, with them out, and they all sparked on their own, correct wire.

          Rechecked the wires.

When I pulled the plug when doing the compression check, the plugs smelled like gas, and were wet.

Put it all together, and cranked it, and it stumbles for about a second.

So tomorrow I will drain the tank, and put a new fuel filter on the thing.

What is the best way to drain the gas? can I use the fuel pump to empty the tank? I can't get a hose into the tank to syphon with.

Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.

The gas is at least 4 years old. The last time my brother drove the car was for the Woodward dream cruise in 2000. So since it appears everything else is ok, I hope bad gas is causing all of this problem. Especially since I am only getting the one code.

          Thanks again.

Ground the end terminal on the diagnostic connector to activate the fuel pump. Of course, you need to tap into the schrader valve to route the old gas into a proper receptacle.
