There are several folks here who don't like them but I have them on the 2R, the Frankencar, and the GT vert. I think they sound fine and seem to flow ok as well. Never did an actual flow test... I know they're fairly durable and shouldn't rust out for a very long time.

      Ditto

I have a pair welded up under mine and they seem fine with a nice sound to boot!

does the turbo whine get any louder or quieter?

I have them on my 86 with a 3" DP and no cat and I love them. The turbo whine may be somewhat more noticable but not enough to be irritating.

              turbo wine

I think sometimes it sounds like a big rig turbo spool up

The turbo itself being in the exhaust system acts as a muffler....No, it will not have the 4 cyl or v6 buzz common with the typical non-turbo car. DO IT !!!!!

I had a single 3" Flowmaster on my 84 for about 130,000 miles.

I didn't like it. It was noisy and boomy inside. When it rusted out, I replaced it with a 3" Magnaflow. It is quiet and sounds nice! I'd go with the Magnaflow again!

                    2 chamber flows

I have one stock sized (2.25") flow with a Y pipe after it into Dual chrome exhaust tips that are 3" big. Have to say sounds better than stock but DON'T expect the V8 sound such as that sweet sound from a 5.0 with them and no cats cuz it don't sound like that AT all. I didn't really hear a big difference with or without the cat with the flowmaster, maybe a little louder on decel in gear. My buddy's 86 with dual flowssounds the same as mine. Honestly, i regret the flow becuz of the baffles and restriction it causes. Get a flowthrough type muffler or magnaflow.

                      your question

Oh yeah, to answer your question, it will not sound like a RS or any V6 Camaro, it kind of has its own distinctive sound. It sounds like a V8 or real deep at idle but any time the RPMs are above 3K it is very obvious it is a 4 banger. When at full boost, the turbo completely quiets out the exhaust after 2800, then all you hear is the motor screaming.

Um, do a search on a flowmaster muffler cut in half. You will see it looks very similar to a cheapo muffler put on any stock car with chambers and stuff, all great for restricting exhaust flow. And they sound gay to boot.

                              ??

What stock muffler uses chambers instead of baffles and sound deadening material?
