Hi all, well this is one i've been working on for a while, like...whats new!!!! Anyways, a while ago lonchair posteda bout an oil seperator he had built and since i was getting oil in my intake, which I hate, I though I'd do the same.
I found some decent sized aluminium tube in the metal shop at work and machined some end caps from some scrapbillett which I then drilled and tapped for the fittings I bought at the hardware store. I welded one to the bottom, the top one is held on with three allen head screws and the flange I welded on. I'd been looking for a good place to put it, I'd orginally intended to put it where the BCM goes but it's to big, and decided to attatch it to the frame rail. I had to move the charchoal cannister forward and drill some holes but found another use for my new rivet nut kit.
The hosing (5/16' fuel line) follows the A/C lines to the valve cover so as to keep it out of the way of the hot exhaust. For those interested it is filled with varying grades of steelwool with a couple of layers of wire mesh and then a piece of scotchbrite over the outlet hole. The inlet has a pipe which goes near the bottom of the tank for proper circulation of air.
Now to see if it works.
