No those make turbo power without the turbo....would be a sweet upgrade though..with a turbo of course.

Its the Duratec 2.3L. Its the same engine found in the Ranger, Mazda3 and Focus. In N/A form it makes about 140-160hp depending on application. In the MazdaSpeed3 it makes 265hp.

I wonder if anyone would consider it sacrilege if someone tossed one of the turbo 2.3 DOHC engines in a SVO???

I think it would be the perfect engine for the Infamous Evolution 2.3

That would be interesting to say the least. Probably some weight savings to be had. One thing to note is that the engines are mounted side to side vs. our front-back config, not sure how much havoc that would play...

There's a RWD variation found in the Ranger. There's even a trans adapter to mate one of these engines to a T5.

I have a 2001 focus that the preveous owner turbo charged it is fun to drive, handles like it is on rails, but it is a auto and that is were the fun stops.
the guy set it up right engine has been rebuilt for 8:1 comp. and trans was rebuilt buy level 10.
Gator even test drove this car for me and said it was a real kick to drive.
the way the car sits now it gets 20mpg if you keep your foot out of it and worse with a heavy right foot. I guess that is due to the tuning done on this car and I don't have the time or the knowledge to tune it better.

if you would like more pics let me know.

I have one of the newer DOHC engine sitting here along with a spare SVO chassis. Just trying to find the time to make everything fit and convert it to turbo. Some year!

Man, it has been a while since I posted...

I am putting one in my 86 SVO. The company that I was going to have build me one is, umm, going thru some hardships. I am finally overcoming my obstacles and getting ready to move forward and wham Anyways, I`m working on a new source for the engine build and it will be done this year, PERIOD!

I never felt like I was straying to far from the SVO`s original intent, but I`m gonna do what I`m gonna do

Many people have adapted the Volvo DOHC onto the Lima block not the Duratech. The Duratech already has a gorgeous 16V cylinder head. Now the question is can the Duratech hit 511 WHP with a stock stockblock like the Lima can? Hooray for low-tech!

Can you wait X amount of years since the inception of the 2.3 Lima for someone to hit 511rwhp, AND THEN give the 2.3 DOHC the same amount of time..? Didn`t think so
