if you ever want to go back with air, you might want to consider replacing the AC evap core while you are in there... just a thought

In the middle of doing mine and it took me 3 hours to get the friggin dash out properly. There no way I'll remember where all these screws go. This will be my 1st and VERY LAST HC replacement. This job sucks azz.

ah..... come on dashes arent that bad , i have pulled several dashes in my time with mustangs , and installed a couple and done the h/c on my svo , there not that bad to do , if you take out the correct screws they come loose rather easy , last one took me 3.5-4 hours

and if you unclip all the wire loom fasteners and unplug every thing a dash swap is really easy . every thing just plugs back in and snaps back into place . the very first was the dash in my ttop car , interior was red . i changed every thing , including the dash , to grey. first dash swap took me 6-8 hours to install , i can do one now in about 4-5 hours maybe less . i know i can do it faster with the windshield out and the front seats out of the way .
the last dash i removed was a early fox , i poped the trim and cut out the windshield "like 10 min tops" and used my screw gun to pull the screws on top , droped the collum , pulled the 8-9 mil nut under it . you got drivers side bolt , bolt by the sterio , nut behind the glove box connected to the firwall and the pass side bolt took me like 45 min maybe an hour to get it out on the ground with the complete harness still in place

Ok, done. I had one screw left over, that's it. Not counting me taking breaks, going to lunch, parts store, dinner.. it probably took 7 hours taking my time and putting screws in sandwich bags and what not. tomorrow I'll hook the hose up under the hood and give her a whirl.

here are some pics to bring back great memories!!

You can see where the OEM one was leaking too.

I don't mean to sidetrack but in the second pic I noticed the shift knob has been removed. how the heck do you get them off ?

some just turn, but others have a little allen head screw holding it in place. If all else fails get a rubber strap wrench and the extra leverage will turn it.

I saw this while cleaning out the assembly, it looked very good and clean so I didn't bother with it. Hopefully that doesn't come back and bite me in the caboose

I replaced that shifter with one from a 5.0...it slants back a bit and is more comfy for me.

Wait a tick - I'm just an FNG but are you telling me that when you guys are talking about "tilting the dash" for a heater core replacement you really mean THE WHOLE DASH (as in the pictures)

Now I know why my Dad didn't want to change it...

yeah, it's no picnic for sure. the heater core assembly is under the wiper cowl area and no other way to get to it except pull the dash.
