70 of my 80 miles per day is highway under zero boost so it makes no sense to me to use high octane when I won't use boost that much at all. I may check into custom tuning later on or something.

I know it all seems anal with the mileage, low octane, savings, etc.. but times are tough so I'm pinching wherever I can.

I'm not so sure that's true, I'm at .044 and don't miss a bet.

I was thinking of the tc, and I only run 10# of boost and a high volt coil. with Bosch platinum's.

Low boost and you should be fine. If it done ping then put your timing down to 8 deg. I have run at 12 with no problems in low boost. Cheap gas just slows me down.
