Has anyone here installed the M-D R134 kit? Fitment, brackets, clearance, hoses how is it?

$750 is reasonable considering the 'everything but the evaporator' completeness but you need a serpentine conversion too right?
The BATFE should be a convenience store.

If I remember right, MikeFleming is using the MD kit with R134a and the v belt. One of the guys who dynoed his car during Knotts, I believe had the MD kit also. Mine was from the hose wizard before MD started selling them. The compressor bracket for mine is steel and Mikes is aluminum. Very happy with it.

It's even more reasonable with a member's discount!

I have one of those kits too. It came set up for the V-belt. I haven't installed it yet but hope to get around to it in mid-July.

I charged mine Monday. 200 psi the high side & 19-20 on the suction side. 38* R134a

I have the gages and vacuum pump, what would I need to do/buy to convert to R134?

isn't it supposed to be 40-55 on the low, and 200+ on the high side? or did you just not put as much due to pressure..

we tried doing mine tonight, but the line on the compressor popped off. The spring lock is broken so I'll have to find another one tomorrow.

20 - 30 on the low side when the compressor is cycling & 180-200 high side. I have spring locks on the hose connections. I don't want to run over 200. It's been working great for the last 1 1/2 years

I found replacement spring locks and I'll try those pressures..doesn't seem like much, but I don't want to blow the compressor.

Rather than talking PSI, why not start talking pounds of weight added. 200 PSI seems rather high to me and asking for trouble on a 20+ year old system. Weight by measurement of 134 vs R12 on a conversion usually falls in the 15-20% less range. Did you do anything about the pressure switch?

system was completely empty, as it was being charged the clutch started to cycle so I know the switch is good.

so the normal capacity from what I know, r12, is 40-5psi low side..but with 134 I should put about 20 or so? I don't want it to blow and i want it to last.

OK so the switch is good, but it is still rated for R12 and now working under a different 134 requirement.

You can get the line locks from an auto AC place.
