  • Pics of NOS flocking

Does anyone have any high quality pictures of a NOS flocked dash bezel? I'm presently redoing mine with the Donjer kit and am curious to see exactly how fuzzy they "should" look like if they were NOS. Right now they are drying and wont be done until tomorrow afternoon.

Please post pics of yours when they dry (I'm getting ready to do mine soon).

What flock did you use: Nylon... Rayon...?
    What adhesive did you use?

PM Andy (MacToolSVO) I provided a NOS panel for his project last year-I think it is on his car -but he should be able to get photos!

Well, here's some pics of mine that I did a few years ago. Can't remember the exact material but it's a bit fuzzier than stock. Research, looking at brochures andd low mileafge cars etc, concludes that the colour should be the same as the dash shell and top. The flocking material is a little lighter but for me it's acceptable and better than the turd brown they turn over time.

I'm about to re-tool for flocking stuff and will be offering it as service after discussions with the BoD. The problem with the currently available material is the fibers are a bit long and a little light in colour, so I'm going to experiment and come up with the closest possible match as far as texture and colour.

Not exactly what you were looking for, NOS, but here are some pics from the lowerst mileage car I've ever seen. The texture felt slightly rougher than the texture on the rear spoiler.

Does the candidate gauge bezel have to come from an SVO or can any 1st gen, 79 to 86, fox body Mustang gauge bezel be used and flocked?

            NOS Flock

Well, I caught the thread before I got any PMs, so here ya go....fresh outta the box (thank you again Mark - Im getting used to saying that). The texture is more like a chalkboard than anything else...theres no real fiber.

            hope it helps!

there are several different types. the SVO has the "arrow head and shaft" style indicator. I just swapped over the idiot lights panel.

Understand about the idiot light panel needing to be changed from a non-SVO gauge cluster for use in an SVO.

Just inquiring about the potential of using parts that one could get from all other 79 to 86 Mustangs. Since my SVO gauge cluster has a broken mounting tab I'll look for one at the jy with no broken tabs. But only if it can be flocked since the checkerboard style (reg Mustang) gauge cluster would look out of place on an SVO.

Marco, the biggest thing is the shape of the indicators. Some are just the arrow head, some are arrow head and shaft (correct for SVO) and some have a smaller arrow head and shaft in a recessed circle.

The one in my car are actually out a capri i think(???) The were originally a smooth woodgrain looking thing. Can't see it under the flcok though.

Amazing what camera flash can do. The color in the first 2 pics (lighter gray) looks nothing like the last pic (med/darker gray). Thanks for posting - good info!!!!

Here is what it ended up looking like. I used the Donjer charcoal gray nylon mini flocker kit.

Here's what it looked like before. Much darker.

Until someone finds the real deal on what these were flocked with, Its a mildly acceptable alternative for now. I'm still pleased with how it turned out.

The Don Jer is too light and their flock is too long compared with original. The original flock appears to be only .030" long. Don't even bother asking me how it was measured.

What method was used to reattach the half round rubber seal at the bottom and the idiot lights? Epoxy?
