I know this is off-topic but does anyone know the cost involved in converting to SN-95 suspension parts?

      Snake_Lover,

I don't know the price, but you could probably find the price on the RRAX-Mustang list archives on Yahoo Groups. There are quite a few guys over there that have converted their Fox's to SN-95 specs.

On a slightly different note, I got my newly aquired 96 Cobra wheels on my car and below is a pic.

The tires are Yoko A520's in the 245/45ZR17 size. They are a very tight squeez up front, but haven't rubbed yet. I did have to change the bolt that holds the bumber cover extension from a standard hex head to a lower profile button style hex head and thinner washer. While the tire did not contact the bolt head in the driveway it was too close for comfort.

        svono50,

Those look real nice and did they bolt up w/no problems? If they did I can use the ones I have on my '97 Cobra that I just recently aquired. That is what my wife drives most of the time and we were wanting to both the y2k r's but if they fit w/no problem then I can just use one set of the y2k r's for now.

        Thanks

          Snake_Lover,

Pretty much bolted up with only two minor tweaks: 1) Lower profile fender extension bolt mod (mentioned in my message above) and 2) Open up one hole of the center cap for clearance over the stock SVO locking lug. Try bolting up the set and see what you get.

Depending on your tire, your tire's outside corner may rub the front inside fender extension at full lock. I have only about a 1/4" of clearance on my car, which is pretty tight. I also have poly bushings, which should hopefully limit a-arm movement. I don't know if I would feel as comfortable with factory rubber pieces.

I found a slight issue when I tried to bolt up the first wheel. My locking lug key, which is still has the retaining wire on it, cannot be used to snug the locking lug down with the center rims' center caps on. I then tried to pull the center cap off and found that it would not fit over the locking lug's flaired body. At the bottom of the bore of the center cap lug recess, it has a small lip, which is smaller than the widest part of the locking lug. So, I opened up one hole on all four center caps with a Stanley knife and was good to go.

I'm just wondering if you'd be able to take a pic of them from down low, like you were going to take a pic of the straightness of the side of your car. I really just want to see how much, if any, they stick out of the wheel wells.

Tommy, I don't have any pics here at work, but I do have some at home. I will post a couple of them up here in the next day or so. I can say that they do not stick out past the sheetmetal, but they are close. With the negative camber I run up front the fronts tuck in pretty nice (you will see in my pics).

Tommy, I took a few snaps of the tires and hopefully these pics will give you the perspective you are looking for. They really don't 100% capture the look of the fitment in person, but should give you an idea. Here is a collage picture of a closeup of the front and rear tires:

Here is another picture with a bit of an angled perspective of both wheels:

Here is the last pic, this one makes the wheels look like they stick out past the fender lips, but they really don't.

Another bit of information, the Cobra rims are 17x8" with a 5.75" backspacing (same backspacing as the stock SVO rim). This rim has a positive offset of 30.2mm as compared to the stock rim's 42.9mm positive offset. Based on that, if I were to buy some aftermarket 8" wide rims I would try and get a set with 38mm offset to tuck the tire under the fenders a little more, FWIW.

Found this pic on Ebay, looks like 00-01 16" wheels fit AND you can keep the center cap on the front.

Looks similar to the 94-95 cobra wheels....

Has anyone tried a wheel off an 2000 up Cobra. They are a 17x8 also. If they would, the polished ones would look sweet.

                              question for svono50

                              hey svono50,
                              the backspace dimensions you listed
for your 17x8 rims show 5.75.
looking at your pictures its kinda hard
to tell if its possible to to go as low
                              as 5.50 inch backspacing.
do you think theres enough room for another
.25 inch under the wheel well w/o sticking
out too far and looking ghetto

                              thanks, john

RonMeyer I just put 2001 polished cobra wheels on my SVO-

took alot of work. The front wheels didnt fit because of the size of the center of the wheel.. i needed to switch to 94+ spindles and cobra brakes... the rear i needed to use ranger axles (shorted) and custom brackets for the brakes for the correct position....
I still have no idea how to get my parking brakes hooked up yet...
