C'mon Pat, I ain't changing a thing...think about it! Is that song really talking about sinching (sp?) it up with a "head" or a "nut"?? I would have to vote for a "head" and therefore keep on screwing away.

Uh - so now you're defining the name of a part by its application? Good luck with that.

So you're saying our engines come with "head screws" instead of head bolts? But if one installs "head studs" with tightening nuts, then they're actually called "heat bolts"?

      Where's my beer?
You have to start somewhere, ya know!

Effectively your take on head screws and head bolts are correct per the definitions that I at least live by. Almost all fasteners on a vehicle are screws per the definition I laid down and very few bolts.

          Pat, be careful!
          Beer contains female hormones!

Last month, National University of Lesotho scientists released the results of a recent analysis that revealed the presence of female hormones in beer. Men should take a concerned look at their beer consumption. The theory is that beer contains female hormones (hops contain phytoestrogens) and that by drinking enough beer, men turn into women.

To test the theory, 100 men drank 8 pints of beer each within a 1 hour period. It was then observed that 100% of the test subjects:
          Argued over nothing.
Refused to apologize when obviously wrong.
          Gained weight.
          Talked excessively without making sense.
          Became overly emotional.
          Couldn't drive.
          Failed to think rationally
Had to sit down while urinating.
No further testing was considered necessary.

Tony, that was a good one!

Back on the home front, I got my modified lines back from the machine shop this afternoon. Luckily one of the guys there is a Ford nut, so he has no problem helping me with some side projects. In any case, the picture tells the story. I had 0.064" taken off the 'big end' of the fitting and it is a perfect fit to match the factory orientation. Now I need to spend some time with the 'wobbler' caliper...grrr!

That caliper looks so clean that now the old banjo screw looks out of place.

Glad you identified that fastener properly there Pat, I was waiting for the first slip up. Yes, I haven't cleaned the screw yet, but it will not get installed in that condition.

First slip up? Look at the name of this thread!

Good reason to switch to scotch. (Or Chianti!)

                          So, you're saying you're threaded?

I think it depends on whether Pat is drinking scotch or Chianti.

There's no way for the parts person (don't we have a separate thread on that?) to know what an item is used for so how can they list it as a screw or bolt?

Just call it a "threaded fastener" and all is good. Actually the item that started this discussion was the exploded view assembly of a rear caliper, so my 'guff with the fastener name is valid in the specific context being debated.

In any case, I did get my rear calipers on this weekend with the lines routed the same as the factory units. The SS lines are a bit longer, but did route nicely. I will post some pics up from home when I get a chance.

(there will be a reunion prize for the best gallery comment on this one - something about three hard steel blue balls?).
I under stained how one may end up with 3, or the common hading proses. But why in the heck would you want them to be steel, could get quit cooled in the winter.(or is this where the bluing cums in)
