seems like an awful big expense, for the 1/16 - 1/8 of material you have to remove.

Also, the joint itself isn't in the way, it's the brake bracket itself.

Henson just hates all IRS equiped cars. Probably why he wouldn't run the auto-x at last years reunion, an IRS equiped car won....

HAHA. I think Henson evaluates and determines the application and intended usage. An IRS car may have won, but it was also the only car with brand new new purpose specific tires (He got what he paid for). The same guy was observing his IRS shortcomings at Barber the year before. We're all looking for a better way between point A and point B. Some folks use Mapquest, some use a Thomas Guide. Others decide to pave their own road.

Yes, removing material is cheaper, unless the tie rods/ends are missing all together. I don't have brakes yet so I didn't know about that clearance issue. I plan on 17" wheels in the end, but currently have 16" wheels just so I can roll it around and I have clearance issues with the tie rod.

No it wasnt the only car. Alvino had new R1's as well (same tire I ran.)

To boot, me and Rich are probably putting down the same HP numbers as the grey pig is nothing special in the hardware dept..and my pig's K-member hasnt been "touched."

I aint poking at Rich OR his car either....Im pretty damn confident that he could have more than likely jumped in the grey pig and in return of my favor, beat my best by a 1/2 second. He is that good.

The "IRS" shortcomings included a whooped bushing and shocks that needed to be tossed out ( which i replaced with Bilstein and its a world of difference.)

All this talk about "what is better" is like arguing about anything else...it all depends on what ya want to do with the car.

Keep in mind ladies that i have both and IMO...stock for stock on track, auto-x or driving, the IRS wins..and if I ever get finished with the 8.8 mods in the red-pig...I whole heartedly plan on walking the grey-pig with it. That wont be opinion.

Oh, by the way...anyone that plans to beat on an IRS on-track for an extensive amount of time. I suggest a cooler....or an 8.8.

Gator, what, if anything have you done to change your IRS?

Different bushings, or pinion angle or????

Actually planning to take a few days off work and do mine soon, and that stuff is easier to do now.

Yes, stock for stock. No, if we talk about modifications. Which, frankly, is what an IRS in a fox is.

I'm sure the Auto-x win had more to do with the rear-end in the seat than the rear-end under the car.

                          Auto-X...
...I'd rather do figure eights in the parking lot.

Come to Mid-Ohio and go airborne on that bump before thunder valley and let's see what the IRS does then.

I don't hate IRS's. Just a waste for the road I'm traveling. Hell I don't have any bushing in my car nor interior.

The fastest mustang I know has stiff as hell leaf spring suspension. It's like riding in a dump truck. Hands down the fastest track/ street mustang I've been in. It'll walk all over you guys with your "sophisticated" IRS's.

                            Don't be a hater Henson!!

Most folks don't care that it loses negative camber in bump, or wheel hops as bad as a GM f-body.

Define Kewl, didn't find it on Merriam-Webster.

I hate everything. I'm a hard a$$ like Jesse James, once you meet me you'll understand.

                              Kewl is a Fleming term.

Stir the crap some more....IRS Dolly

Putting in my IRS this month. Not that anyone cares but I'll put it up here for the future record, Gator suggested building a dolly to jack up the IRS into the car and move it around if the swap is done w/o a lift. Here's some pics of my homemade dolly. The entire IRS is held by the 4 1/2" bolts. I assume this is where the factory picked it up. Pics not pretty but you get the idea.
