    On the Road...

OK, got the 84 w/ IRS back from the muff shop yesterday. Wow, It's no longer a Mustang. It feels like a totally diff car with the IRS in there. Thanks all for the help and comments. Now few notes:

I used the exhaust Y adapter that Rob suggested. It worked really well

    Questions...
    1. The probe GT wheels LOOK like they fit under the wells but do rub if you hit a dip in the road. So I don't think they stick out far, Can someone PM how I get the quarters rolled? I've seen really nice jobs, I assume a shop can do this better than me and a hammer? I'll try the SVO wheels this weekend after allignment to see how they fit.

    2. Discusion with Rob @ the reunion said concensious was to cut 3/4 of a turn out of the Cobra springs. I now sit 1/2" lower in the rear than front. I've noted all 3 years of SVOs have slightly different ride heights. Obviously, I should have started w/ 1/2 a turn. Should I wack my 84 front springs down or use the 86 Comp prep springs I have laying around. I can't remember if the comp prep sat even higher than my 84?

Good job. Mikey . 05 mustang wheels fit sweet!!! You can find them cheap sometimes.
I have eibach lower springs in front and did the 3/4 off the cobra springs. Sits nice. I think the full spring would have done just as good with stock springs. even better with FMS springs.
Time to clean up the engine bay!

        I have another IRS question:

For those that have done this swap who has used a 03/04 Cobra IRS?

I have been reading that if you have the FRPP alum driveshaft you have to swap out the flange on the IRS........is this true or can you just swap out the piece that goes between the flange and the driveshaft?

I have found a great deal on an IRS and I'm thinking about going that route instead of building a 8.8 axle.

Here is a picture if what I'm talking about.

I have the 03/04 IRS, and yes, you much change either the rear-end flange, or the drive-shaft flange. don't really matter which....

            ummm yeah....

You can either change the pinion flange...

(like I did, cuz I'm not too bright). This requires you to reset up the rear and use a new crush sleeve (a few hundred bucks for a shop to do it). Benefit: you know that the rear is set correctly, especially if it's been raced prior.

or simply pop the U joint out and change the end of the shaft that sits on the pinion flange of the diff. Much cheaper.

Is it a specific drive shaft flange, or can I use anything that is "not" a 03/04 cobra flange?

any ford 8.8 flange will work.
OR, there is a specific flange for the driveshaft, Rob R. had a line on them.

I went through "the driveshaft shop" and ordered a driveshaft flange for the aluminum driveshaft to the IRS flange
Iirc the piece was 45 dollars shipped
                  I think it was driveshaftshop.com

Do you happen to remember the part number for that part?

I'm getting closer to actually installing my IRS now..........does anyone have a picture of how they routed the e-brake lines and the brakes lines? I'm trying to get everything that I might need before I start the swap.

                          Thanks
