Well as the title says my Silver 85 blew up on the way to work last week. I was driving to work when it lost power and saw flames in the rear view mirror. when i pulled over the exhaust manifold and turbo were cherry red and flames were shooting out of it. I think i figured it out, the #1 cyl intake lifter collapsed causing a fire in the exhaust manifold. Right now i have the head off it rebuilding it and of course it is getting some serious porting done. The intake and exhaust will get ported as well. I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes. I now work in a machine shop so I can do all the work there. It had 276,000 miles on it and from what i can tell the bottom end is still stock and the cylinders look good. The head has been off in the past, someone tried to port the intake but it looks like my 5yr old did it. later, Chris H.

That sucks, but looks like it is being fixed right up and will be back 'in the game' sooner than later! No other collateral damage with the flames? Sounds like the bottom end is finally getting past the 'breaking in' stage, eh??
