E&G doesn't make leather interiors anymore?

Ok, now I'm bummed.

I was waiting until paint before I ordered new seat covers, but now I'm SOL. Where else can we get interior kits, leather or cloth?

I guess you cant, as I posted the same question recently, a couple of threads down.
I have taken my seats to a local shop, and just tried to get as close as I could on the fabric. I thought this was better than switching to seats out of a different mustang.

You do have the option of taking the seats to an apholstry shop.

They can take the old covers and take them apart for a pattern for new ones.

You might even pimp E&G for the material they used....or at least a sample for the shop you pick out for the work.

Right around 600 in Missouri. Look pretty good, too. If a origional kit is ever made, I would try and find another set of seats to have a perfect origional set.
The great thing is, while the seats were apart, the shop fixed the little squeeze bulb lumbar thingie.

Every shop is different with cost and skill. Don't get wrapped around the axle with cost. You usually get what you pay for.

So that's for the front seats? My local shop wanted $600 just to install the kit.

All in all, they wanted $150 to install the new carpet (that I already have) and another $150 plus material to replace the headliner. Total cost without sewing a stitch was over $900, not including door panels. I found this to be a tad pricey.

Sorry NavySVO, but these are numbers that I need to keep an eye on.

You are definately going to the wrong shop.
Also, do the carpet yourself....it's cake once the seats are out.

find another shop

The carpet is a CAKEWALK to install. You can remove the headlinger board, and get someone to install new material for (ballpark) $50 to $75 bucks, then reinstall it yourself. If you have a moonroof make sure they leave excess material to run under the moonroof gasket... You can get new headliner material yourself and redo it...but its frickin tough to do and make it look nice. Also, $600 to install new covers is a RIP. Shop around and you should be able to get it done for $300 or so...maybe less. We had our 70 vert front and rears installed for $225....they're fairly basic compared with the front svo seats though. Best of luck!

Ok....

Just for fun, I drove the car up and got a full estimate with him making all the seatcovers.

1. Hand fabricated front and rear seatcovers in leather; installed
$1700.00 (cloth around $1500)

2. Cloth headliner is still $150 plus materials. He claims that he
can't use the current piece that's hanging there.

3. $150 for carpet installion.

And my favorite number....

4. Custom doorpanels at $400 each. $200 each If he can clean
them up, remove the cloth/vinyl, and remount them on new
fiberboard.

Is this guy pricey or what

About the only quasi-realistic number I see are the hand fabiracted seat covers. But given what he's quoted on everything else that makes me think its probably still 30% higher than what it'd cost elsewhere.

Like I said....it takes about an hour(with a couple beers, a cigarette or 2 {if you smoke}, and a sandwich) to install carpeting if you have the seats out.

I wish you were closer. I've done several headliners and I thought it was quite simple. I've always skipped stripping the old headliner off and just glued the new cloth / foam to the backside and re-installed it. Then I've got 30 years experience with foams / fabrics / spray lamination. It takes maybe 1.5 hours total. The carpet is not as easy but can still been done by the first-timer. You'll need the correct torx ( BIG ) socket to remove the seat belts but the rest are normal hand tools. Pull the front seats and rear seat bottom, the console, and the belts. The trimming around e-brake handle sometimes takes alittle wrestling but can be done. I also get some BIG washers and run the seat bolts all the way down to make sure the carpet is positioned properly before putting the console, rear seat bottom, door sill plates and belts back in place. Also the headliner board is not SVO specific and virtually any Mustang 79-93 has the same board. The hardest thing for me has always been the dang sunvisors. I wind up with a stiff neck trying to find the screw holes. I'd help you if I could... can you wait till next years reunion?
