    Hello All,
isn't funny how doing one thing to a car leads to doing another!! i only finished Project 1/4 Panel yesterday and I'm on to something else. It's seems logical though, half the interior is already out so I may as well do the rest.

So far I've taken out the console, seats, carpet, kick panels etc plus all the bits from the doors back. The carpets are drying as we speak, water and some Purple power as directed by another member, and then I'm going to wash and prep the plastics so I can Paint them tomorrow night. Gonna use the Duplicolor HVP111, I did a test on a panel last week and can't tell the difference myself.

Right, well gotta go put my seats back in so I can still drive the car If anyone wants to see pics etc let me know and I'll post some.

    Chris
p.S.- i'm a bit bummed I didn't find the build sheet, maybe it's hiding somewhere else.
P.P.S.- maybe some of the experienced restorers can answer this question for me......My carpet is moulded and the insulating material is affixed to the bottom, is this standard or should there be underlay on the floorpan itself???

    Thanks Mike,
I've been running in regular mode mostly anyway. plan to do so until I can do a thorough engine clean/ tune-up.

          hello all,
well it's been a few days but I'm just about ready to put everything back in. I've spent the last few evenings in the spray booth painting. I think I've used about 7 cans of HVP111 so far, the rear 1/4 trims were about 1-1/2 cans each, but bear in mind I'm using 3-5 coats on each piece so it makes sense.

note to all, if you have original carpet in your car and you ever remove it and clean it, you will be amazed at the amount of black gunk that comes out of it. I sprayed mine down for about a 1/2 hour and then degreased it and then spayed it for another 1/2 hour. Suffice to say that it was still dripping black water 12 hours later. Does look much cleaner though and it's tear free so it's going back in.

I've thoroughly cleaned, vacumned the floor pan and found no major rust. I little bit of surface stuff but nothing a bit of rust encapsualtor wont fix. I'm going to spary some sealer/ sound deadner on the floor pan before I re-fit the carpet for a bit more insualtion and further rust protection. I also found a small crack in the floor pan near the drivers seat, to be expected in a fox, which I have fixed with a quick weld.

Well, tomorrow i'm going to finish re-painting the floorpan and when that dries I'm going to start putting it all back together again. It will be nice to only have 1 SVO interior in my living room. BTW, a couple of pics for you.

Check with Paul, I think he had the floor reinforcments. I know you're humpin' to get it back together right now. But, get it for the next time you want to pull the seat. Thats all it takes. Heck, my '92 floor cracked AND my seat back broke both were supposed to be improved on by then.

                hey Eric,
looks like somebody already did that as there is a plate on the floor behind the drivers seat. Appears to be a reinforcement plate but I haven't looked one up in a while so i'm going from memory. The crack was near the framerail a few inches in front of the rear seat mounting bolt. it was only about 2-3 inches long so I just welded it.

Well, have now applied several coats of underseal onto the floor pan which I am going to let dry overnight then I just have to re-asseble everything. more pics to follow.

                    Good work

I am sure Steph is bummed out about selling her car
But at least she has the satisfaction of knowing it went to the right person
                    and is doing just fine

                      Hello All,
thanks for the kind words Pat. What can i say I love cars and I hate being bored Yeah, I think Stef was bummed but if I ever go back to Australia for any period of time I think she might be getting the call for babysitting duties.

Right, down to business......Well I let the three or so coats of undercoat dry overnight and when I got home from work tonight I put the carpet and the front seats back in. Was pleased to discover that the lumbar supports actually hold air!!!! Who would've thought. Well that was it for tonight but I have tomorrow off and I'm going junk yarding. They had a nice 84 or 85 GT sitting there the other day, recently arrived and mostly complete, So i'm gonna go and see if it has any of the small trim pieces I'm missing. It's mainly just the seat bolt and shock covers but I'm gonna grab as much of the interior hardware as I can while I'm there. This stuff always goes missing and I'm to cheap(read saving for engine parts) to spend $75 for a bolt kit.

Well, hopefully I will have photos of a re-assembled interior for you tomorrow. I'm also gonna change all the tailight bulbs while I have this apart and am considering changing the tailight bodies with the ones from my 93 as they are perfect. Till then........

                      Chris

                        the new axis of evil!!!!

                        hello all,
haven't posted for a couple of days becuse I've been busy getting stuff done. The title of this post may seem strange but heres the explanation, you all know I hate body sealer(evil), well add to that list window sealer(evil)and black silicone(Evilist of all).(three evils makes an axis right???)

Anyways, a word of advice, don't ever, EVER use black silicone to seal a window or if you have to use as little as possible!!!! Future owners will curse you. I decided to replace the Ace Harware sealant I had used on my drivers window with some butyl I got at the local window shop. The guy who works there is rebuiling an 82 T-Top, nice guy!!! well that one was easy to get out and I figured I would do the other one as well. Re-sealing the first one was easy so I moved onto the pass side. 2-1/2 hours later!!!!!!!.....after much sreaming and yelling it was out. Some fool had decided it would be a good idea to GLUE the window in place with black silicone!!!!!!! Luckily I know the sound glass is going to make just before it shatters otherwise it would have been back to the junkyard!!!! Anyways, I got it re-sealed and called it a night.

Here's one I prepeared earlier while this was all going on I decided to prep and paint all the bolts I had gotten from the junkyard that day. A who says men can't multi-task!!!!!! Well after a good soak in some CLR and then a wash down with acetone, I discovered the best use ever for a pizza box. See attached pic. suffice to say my bolts all look nice and new and will fit the interior very well.

I discovered tonight that Ford's production line techniques are quite interesting. I was trying to get one of my 1/4 trims to fit and none of the bolt holes would line up. Ok, it was from another car but the bolt holes sjhould be the same right??? WRONG!!! It would appear that all the interior bolts are the "tech" variety, meaning self tapping so it would appear that when these cars were built the interior panels were put in and roughly bolted in place. hence the reason the mounting plates behind the panels are so large.

right, well tomorrow I'm gonna bring home the might DeWalt and this job is gettin dun!!!!!

                        Chris

Chris, isn't the best purpose for a pizza box actually for putting a pizza in?

Hey, keep up the fight on that 84. It is getting better all the time!

I agree! What you've owned the car like two months, already tackled a 1/4 repair (on your own!!!) and now doing the interior. Your quater panel platistics look great.

Who makes the HVP111 paint? Did you use the interior plastic primer before use? When I did mine I used late model resto's stuff and it has a purple tinge to it...
