  • Just got some 05+ Bullits

These rims have the stock Pirelli's as well and sit rather tall. I have read the other posts about adopting these rims on our cars, but very little was mentioned about the use of spacers in the front. Is this necessary?

    Thanks,

    Eric

nope, they will bolt right on.

The stock tires are very tall, but I don't think they will rub on stock height suspension

mine rubbed on my front shocks, so I changed to 235/45/17's and have no rubbing issues with them.

My car is lowered with H&R Sport springs, but I'll give it a try and see what happens. How are you guys modifying the center caps?

        Thanks,

        Eric

235/45/17's worked just fine on mine with lowering springs. The dust cap on the fronts will need to be mashed down some in order for the cap to go on.

Talk to thomp22, he has them on his car. He mentioned something at the reunion about "trimming out" the inside of the caps.

And, they look NICE on an SVO!!

I reamed the inside of my caps with a dremel tool

Yep, a dremel is the best tool for the job. Keep grinding until you can just start to see the oval depression comming through.

I dremeled one of my caps so far and I think we are in business and yes these rims really do look nice on the SVO. I test fitted one of the wheels and it does clear the fenders on my car (I can barely fit two fingers between the tire and fender), but I didn't go for a test drive to see if it will rub. It most likely will be a good idea to sell the stock Pirelli's and go for a nice set of 245 40 17's (maybe a 45).

Now for the lug nuts. Is everyone using the stock SVO lugs, including the key lock? They seem a little out of place and I am concerned the key lock lug nut is going to eat into the hole of the stud because it's not tapered like the rest of the normal lug nuts. Am I being anal here?

                  Thanks,

                  Eric

Don't use the stock tires or the SVO lug nuts. Just get some acorn nuts from any part store. 245/40's will look a little small IMO, 245/45 fill the wheel wells better. At least in the back.

                      Even on a lowered car?

IMO, yes. Mine is lowered and I still prefer the 45 series. The 40 series looked too much like rubber bands wrapped about the rim.

I think they look awesome on the SVO, but being a purist, I am keeping the stock wheels on mine. At least I have photos of how it looked with them on the car, reminds me of the old ET mags I bought in the early 70's for about $25 a piece...

Still have them on mine, I like'em. Have the originals as well, in the rafters, need to be refinished....one day.
