Tire Recommendation

I just got a set of Khumo 712s 245/45/16 on stock rims and suspension with no rubbing at all. I needed an all around tire because mine is a daily driver. If I only drove as much as you Otto I would get a more aggressive tire. Maybe pick up some time on the track..

What is a slightly more agressive tire? But I really don't want to make a mountain out of a mole-hill. I kind of get the peoples choice.

I want a somewhat agressive tire, wear is not too much of an issue, rain maybe (Bama drive) but probably included in the tread pattern, kinda low noise (but I cannot have everything), 10,000 miles is fine!

then again the Nitto are a very good tire, ask Ninjaboy about the pitstop we had to make after we left "On Track" He wore out his BFGs and was hydroplaning so we pulled into a gas station where we switch on my Nittos that i had mounted on a set of wheels i was selling.

and theres the Kumho Victor racer tires if ya wanna stick to the track and just get 10,000 miles

and if you take a ride to Jerzey i'll mount those tire and bal them the right way.

I like the piolt sports. I am on my first set and I am thinking of getting another real soon. That is why I am watching this thread to see what everyone elses opinions are.

I have some Bridgestone Pole position S-03's on my SVO....and can't say enough good about them. 225/50/16. Not cheap by any means...but for 300 a set with stickers still on them I couldn't pass them up at Carlisle last year.

And i came up with the BFG G-Force KD not the KDW (which isnt bad, and NOT the KDWS )

Im also partial to the Nitto 555R.

The guy at America's Tire Co. told me that he has had good luck with Falken RT-615's. Soft tire for dry weather and has a sqwiggly line in the middle so it doesn't follow lines in the pavement. He stated that they stick VERY well. Not good for the rain, but at least there is some tread pattern.

GET Hankook RS2's If you compare their specs to other tires, they are very competative and cheap.

200 treadwear rating, very sticky, decent wear life . The closet comparison to Pole Position tires, and much cheaper.

I would not be afraid to run 245/45/16's, the original Gatorback 225/50/16 were a very large 225, I have an original GY and it is as wide as a 245.

Any opinion on 245/50/16 vs. 245/45/16?

My car has 225/45/16 on front and 225/50/16 on back. The fronts look way small compared to the rears. I just want to make sure I fill out the wheel well.

Are you doing any autocrossing with this car and are your wheels OEM? If so I'd be concerned about the contact patch with the wider 245/45/16 tires. The sidewalls may be a bit wide for the factory wheels. But if you are only concerned about looks I say go for it. It's not unsafe at all for a street car and they will fill the wheel well nicely I think.

No autocrossing with the 16". I have a set of 17" for that.

Here's my deal,

I bought some 17" rims for my car. But then some new 16" SVO rims came about. I want to put the best fitting tire I can on these SVO rims, wondering if 245/50/16 tires would work well, or if 245/45/16 would work better.

The 225/50/16 Gatorback was a large "225". I had one laying around and compared it to the 245/45/16 that I am using and it was the same width.

The 245/45/16 is harder to find than a 245/50/16. There isn't that much to choose from in the 45 series. I don't mind the taller height of a 50 series tire.
So I guess I'm wondering if anyone has had any issues with a 245/50/16 tire.

There is a set of Kumhos in the 245/50/16 size on sale for $50 a tire. For my use, these will be fine. I'm just hoping that I won't have any issues.

Oh - the wheel wells are rolled if that makes a difference.

I have 245/45/16 Kumho 711 http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/reifens...146&Country=US on the car now, I like them. Old school tread design. For some reason the 245/45/16 is the only VR rated size in the model, all the other 711's are HR's.

I guess I should have looked at this link before I stated that 245/45/16 are hard to find. On Tire rack and Discount tire, there is like 6 tires to choose from - none I liked. Maybe the Kumho 711 isn't being offered anymore?
