I have always had an attachment for SVO Mustangs, this one is my third such car. # 1 was an 86 black, sunroof, cloth sweetheart.  Only mods were Borla cat back  exhaust,  K+N air filter,  Saleen mesh wheels, and Dunlop D-40M2`s. that ran 14.4@ 99 mph. It was sold in order to start my plumbing business, a truck was more practical at the time. #2 was an 84 medium gray from Charleston, West VA. Had lots of bolt ons, also lots of little problems I just didn't feel like dealing with.

Copy of joewithca250r.jpg (12969 bytes)My current 86 was purchased in Pottstown, PA. It was a nice find, thought I could keep the mods simple and well, wouldn't you know here I am. Actually it started with a torque arm and  panhard bar, but of course the exhaust didn't fit any more!  Hello custom single 3" Okay thats done now lets get something really trick like a Tec11 engine  management, I can wire this puppy no problem right? Well soon as I had enough of the stock wiring harness it was time to start from scratch, that meant stripping the interior to access everything.  It's sort of easy pulling things apart, OUT came everything, hey this is cool lots of dead weight off the car that will make it go that much faster!

Now that winter is over I have the car running with the base program, although it sounds like a Winston cup car, oops must have moved the cam timing way off while doing the crank trigger, remember I have never taken on such a project of this magnitude. OK, now the stock motored monster is down in Glen Burnie, MD. getting the programming done, from the promised 3 weeks, till over 3 months later, and some threats I have the car back in my grimy pawls. First and only trip to the track resulted in an 13.4 run with 3.55 gears, I put the head gasket out side of the block in 3rd gear, later to find out said tuner only set it up for 14pds. of boost, I liked my 22 pds. can you say LEAN OUT.

Copy of joe250-2.jpg (17409 bytes)OK I learned my lesson, don't take nothing for granted anymore. Lets get real serious, remember those Roush TransAm Merkurs? Killer 2.3 based engines, I thought WOW thats what I want too do, something really trick. Now we have this aluminum headed 2.85 Killer ordered up.  In the mean time I need to upgrade everything to accommodate this kind of anticipated power level, brakes, chassis, SAFETY, fuel system, etc. Well here I am 4 years after I started, still learning and sorting.

I have no regrets going this far and believe it or not I would do it over again. I chose the SVO because it was a well balanced car, I just took it a step further in all departments. the looks I got from people at a stop light when it, they were stock was great, they new it was something just a little different from a standard 5.0. which was another reason I had a fatal attraction for these cars, it's amazing what a few different styling changes can do to a car, Ford was on the right track to bad the world wasn't smart enough to see it.Why did I start modifying it?;   I guess I cant leave well enough alone
